Rose's Mirror

Hmm, I'm not that good with taking normal photos everyday. So, this will be a challenge. I need to get better with self-portraits though, so it's a must! I'm open to ideas for future photos, so bring them.

....

Hide your children and those with weak constitutions.

Hide them from what? If that is your scary expression you might want to practice a bit more.

nice lighting just need to watch out for cutting bits of your face off ;]

as for ideas, don't rule out manipulation in post, this can open up a whole world of options

I don't know if others see it like this, but the white of the eye frames the black of the iris and pupil, then the white of the fur frames the dark hue of your skin. Of course, your eyes will do that, anyway so it's only really a secondary point (as we come to expect it), but the thing with the hood works pretty damn well, in my opinion.

I have to agree with Grumbledook about the cutting off of your face, be a wee bit more careful with that. I suppose if you're gonna be taking photos near once a day then you'll soon get apt at watching out for that sort of thing.

Also, what Chance said, I don't think it's necessarily meant to be scary/a bit peeved, but, it's weird... it seems almost as though you might not be able to do that sort of gaze, you seem far too... welcoming.

Good luck on the once a day thing!

Thanx guys, the hide the children thing is a bit of an inside of joke, my mom says it all the time when I take self-portraits.

Here's today's photo. I think I'm keeping it as a finalized photo. Title: "First Contact"

"Bundled"

It was really, really, really cold today.

I'll change the photo, when I clone out the wrinkles.

Edit: Wrinkles destructinated.

I'd like to keep this as a final... any ideas for a title?

great portrait

as for a title, with you looking towards the left, it gives a feeling of looking into the past

perhaps something along those lines would be fitting

Cool title. I'll use it when I draw, vector, or paint this in the near future. Not really liking the focus to keep it as a final photo anymore. =/

oh, you paint & draw...? Any sketchbook out there?

The one with you looking to the left I was about to crit for the focus, but you mentioned it.

Something general: I know that the concerned or worried look is a standard for portrait photography, (and I like the few examples of that standard you posted - esp. the lighting on the "alien" one), but... could it be that you got real talent for lighthearted, fun or even comical portrait shots?
The two of you I remember to take that direction beat the "worried" ones easily.

Just an idea.

Way ahead of ya Mu. I had an idea after the laundry one yesterday that I'm gonna take and upload for today's photo.

Here's my sketchbook. I need to update it regularly.... really. http://conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=103624

Thanx guys.

I'm glad I had an extra one from last night. Had a tornado warning/watch and a tornado passed over campus; had to go to the basement and wait it out.

*blows off the dust*

Guided by the hand of ignorance, failing to see the light...

Pain in the butt to get the lighting right.
