Nice urban silhouette in the first one and I like the composition in the 3rd, though the diagonal line 1/3 of the way down made me think the horizon was wonky at first.

The second shot seems to lack something and is just a bit bleh to me, though I can't quite put my finger on what is wrong with it.

The last one I really like, nice colour range with the blue sky, the green grass and the earthy tones running through the middle of the picture. Good shot.

I really like the last shot. Nice warm hues, reminds me a lot of the Shire from the Lord of the Rings film, heh. Good work!

so. in number 4 i used Photomatix for my HDR

but i went in Photoshop CS3 and try to see the difference betwen it and Photomatix
this is what i came up with :
4.1

in #4 the color saturation and contrast are much greater
but in #4.1 it's more close to the reality.
what do you think?

I like the CS3 version better. The original one has a weird saturation effect in the grass and a weird overcast on the tree. I love the clouds and the brilliance of the colors in the CS3 version; they don't feel "pushed."

I use CS3 too, it's great.

Great photo too!

i agree i think the colours are nicer in the CS3 version, you might even try darkening the sky a little to really make the clouds pop, but i really like the composition with the old fence leading you up to the tree.

i think your light smoothing was wrong in the first #4
if you fixed it, it would make it much better. try making it higher

I personally like the photomatrix version better, but then I tend to be a fan of the HDR, I know not everyone likes it, but I think its a cool effect. 4 just effects me more than 4.1

4.1 is closer to reality, but Im okay with a bit of manipulation when it comes to the photograph. 4 looks like its a place out of a storybook, whereas 4.1 looks like I could live near that place at some point in time. I like the more dreamy feel of the first one, but then im also a big fan of saturated colors.

I love your industrial stuff as well. Its interesting to see places you dont usually consider attractive to be portrayed in such a way. There may be a bit too much negative space in 3 though.

Great work!

Hi I'm new here but would like to add my perspective from a painters point of view if that is ok, because that is what I mainly do.

I am in agreement with Valadilene
4 has the edge on the image front so to speak not the purest photographic representation side of things.

from my point of view 4 is a striking image with a great tree in it that really pops 4.1 is just a photo of a place with some trees etc in it

for me the objective of a piece of art is to create an emotional response and that response will be different for each viewer what I'm really trying to say is it better to look at a photo from a technical point of view ie is the exposure saturation etc within what would conform to "the standard" or to see it as a collection of shapes and cols making up an image that either pleases you or not depending on your taste
for me you turned a pretty ordinary photo into a nice image by pulling the whole thing closer and giving it a better composition and adding the saturation changes in version 4
Best wishes Rob

nice to see another familiar name and some new pics! I think you should check the tilt on your horizons though.

Hello !
The most disturbing thing in 4 is the green. It is just a little too much and breaks the harmony of the rest of the composition.
But the 4.1 is effectively true to reality but it become ordinary.
The cloud is disturbing, it fills up the perspective.
As Frayrob says, it a question of point of view, and what kind of emotion you want to pass to the viewer.

1. is very impressive.

I really dig your photos from 8 - 10. The colors are very beautiful and it really catches the mood of the freedom and the rawness of nature!

I really like your last photo, great atmosphere
I guess you used a really big angle for nr 10, the dog looks so much bigger than he really is (at least I hope )
I like the use of colors in the photo, just the foreground is a little too dark, without that I like the photo even better.

Nice update dude. I really like #12, would probably help the contrast to darken some of the tones though.
