portfolios

I'm not sure if any of you are in school for art at all let alone photography but I thought i would post and just see.

I'm applying to school in september/october and i'm having a hard time deciding what i want to put in my portfolio. I'll have 10-20 pieces depending on the school i apply to (some require some traditional work too).

just looking for advice on how to decide or maybe waht you put in your portfolio.
I know most schools are looking for more concepts throughout and a consistant style (i've going to several preliminary portfolio reviews) but i'm not sure where to go from there.

any input would help (i'm not looking for ideas on what i should do, just how to figure it out if that makes sense. lol)

thanks!
