Theater Work

I'm friends with a local semi-amateur theater group and have been doing their photo work for a while now.

This is the poster for the last play, Arsenic & Old Lace:

Don't worry about the rather bright blacks, it still came out very dark in print.
It's actually a composit of 4 photos. One base photo in which the faces looked too flat for my tastes. So I photographed both with an handheld flash and edited the faces in. Then we noticed the hand on the right woman's lap was missing, so I pulled that one from another photo.

Here are some photos from the dress rehearsal:

Ah good show I've remembered it many a time. As for the photos I adore the "strapped to the chair" scene and the man reading the magazine both came out very well and very expressionate. You achieved great colors on all of these. The bright blacks in the first shot did concern me at first, but I'm glad to know it was darker in print.

Thank you guys!

Nova: It actually came out too dark in print, with almost no definition in the dark areas. That surprised me, because the photo is really not that dark. That's what you get when you have no contact with the printer beforehand and don't know what color profile they will use.
Actually I decided to get in direct contact with the printer next time. For the current play the father of the stage director messed with one of my files, saved it in the wrong size/dpi and consequently the inside of the flyers came out pixelated. So in the future the final files will go through me.

Zemotion: We'll see if I manage to stay active here, heh. Thanks for the warm welcome! <3

Wonka: Doing the flyer/poster photos is always a challenge for me since I know very little about the play, the characters, and nobody really knows what the stage and costumes will look like in the end.
There's at least a month between the promo photo and the stage photos. This poster is actually the best they ever had.
