I always love you pics from these events, klips... But I still wonder what the thrill is in this? 0_o do you do it yourself too?

MLlanes: Yeah, check out the tunnels on the guy in #7, they're freaking huge. I have a personal policy of 'nothing permanent' hence why all my piercings are 16Ga or smaller, and I have no tatts etc. Got any comments on the photos themselves?

Someone: Thanks mate, it really is just something else going to these. As to why they do it, from talking to various people, some love it for spiritual reasons, getting in touch with their or some greater spirit. Other love it as the pain provides a release, and some just love the freaking huge adrenal rush you get, but I don't intend to any time soon.

Hmm, did you update to add new photos? I don't remember the last two. I always cringe when you do these. Takes me at least a day to work up the courage and look.

The last one is really nice. Has good contrast and I like how it fades into darkness. Seems symbolic (to me at least) of waning pain/pleasure. Would clone or burn out the car headlights. I like how it echoes the way #1 starts off the series.

1, 4, 6 & 9 are really nice as well. Wish his head wasn't cut off in #6 though.

Nope, these were all there from the first batch. Thanks for the feedback I agree on number 6, and I think the cars just remind me that it was all done in a parking lot but I can also see why it would be good to get rid of them (although I don't use clone or burn, so I'll just need to compose differently next time).

Yeah... well neither do I (intend to do it anytime soon) 0_0

It is indeed too bad that his nose is cut off especially... What time was this at? Were there other people around in the parking lot?

It was about 9.30pm. We were doing the piercing in a car park on a reasonably quiet street (about a car per minute, maybe a bit more than that), but it would have been fairly obvious to anyone who drove past that there was something a little strange going on, as there was a group of people with their headlights focusing on the back of another car. And someone taking photos. There was maybe 15 people there by the time the piercing was finished and before the suspension itself. The nose was cut off because he was turning and I didn't recompose in time, but I loved his expression too much to ditch the photo. That's life, really.

Anyway, I'm hoping to do some tattoo and piercing photography, it's kind of morbid but something that fascinates me. This said, there are also a fair few *amazing* 'fetish' (for lack of a better term because it's usually somehow involved) photographers out there, so I just hope there's not any in my town so that I have no competition

don't worry about the competition, it'll just make you try harder and experiment more, and speaking about experimentation it would be interesting to see some macro's of the hooks right after the piercing (before the blood is cleaned away) contrasted against the tattoos. i like the guy in #11 blowing his cigarette smoke into the fresh wounds... :P

I was kidding, mate. Competition is awesome, it means I have someone to compare and contrast with which is always fun. I'd love to do some macro stuff, but I don't have a macro lens and I also didn't want to get in the way too much (because, you know, those dudes have freaking hooks in their hands).

4 and 9 are definitely my favorites of the bunch. Like I said before, I'm a big fan of body mod photography (when done well like this).

THe low light shots and the detail shots are very powerful. Good use of the light and nice open compositions.
