very first post

Hi,
Am totally new to the forum, and haven't taken a photo in years. Just divorced, blah blah, and a lot of time on my hands. No money, so having to use cheap point and shoot til I can save up for a "real camera". Anyway, any advice you can give at this early point would be greatly appreciated.

welcome to the forums...
i like the concept and i can see the mood your going for with the winter trees, but i think where this picture falls short is in your placement of the horizon line through the centre of the shot, it makes it feel more like two separate pictures squashed together so i would suggest cropping this down to fill more of the frame with either the stones or the trees allowing the other element to add to rather than compete for the picture, i also find the broken section of tree quite distracting due to the dramatic colour difference so i would try to remove that when you crop. but keep up the shooting and i look forward to seeing more...
