RIP Polariod instant Film. We Will miss you

So! I don't know if the rest have you have heard the news, but Polaroid is ceasing production of its instant film and cameras.

now, I have never had the opportunity to use Polaroid film in an artistic way, but I still feel a loss. Fuji film still makes an instant film, but I am unsure of how flexible it is.. I do know it doesn't seem to have the charming borders that traditional Polaroid film did. Analysts say that film supply will run out in 2009 if another company does not pick up the rights for the technology that Polaroid is now putting out on the market. I, personally, and upset, because this means that the commercial photography class at my school may stop teaching the 4x5 camera because digital backs for 4x5s are outrageously expensive. Maybe if i stock pile film i can save it for the next semester that I'm going to take it.

Yarrgh. Bad enough it was hard for me to find the pack film these days (the square film for the older polaroids.) now I know I need to sell some organs and stockpile some 690 and 669-670...Oh and the batteries for this thing are hard to find too....

Never got a chance to use one... would have liked to have one to much around with but wouldn't be prepared (at least at this point) for fork out for one...

they had there place, I have used a couple in my time. I found them to be very fragial bits of equipment.
i do agree its a shame that it will be confined to the harshness of time. it will never be forgoton!
times move on however, unless your a die hard fan (im not) you probably wont hugaly miss it

Polaroid is dead, but instant film is not. Fuji still have two types of instant film (where the 100C version works with my 645 polaroid)

And i shot 3 frames yesterday with it to be scanned tomorrow actually so still useful =)
