Catriona's pictures.

Hi everyone, here are a few pretty pictures. There's very little I could do (short of eating my camera) that'd make me more of a beginner to photography, so I'm very grateful for any critiquing.

To start with, here are a few shots I took in Barcelona in December, with my good ol' Casio.

I like the idea in #3 but it's too blown out, and the railing gets in the way. It would have been cool of you could have gotten under it or something like that.

As far as I can remember, the railing was flush to the stairs, so I don't think I could have gotten under it and still get a sense of the curve of the staircase. Although now I think about it, if I stood a little more to the right it mightn't have cut across the picture so jarringly...

Also, I'm not quite sure what you mean by "blown out", could you explain that for me please?

"blown out" means that your highlights are way too bright; general overexposure. You can remedy this by not shooting into the sun, or taking photos at a different time of day when the sun isn't as high in the sky, or there is some slight cloud cover.

You have some pretty nice tones, especially in the last one. Try to play around more with your compositions though.
