I love the second one -amazing. I think the first one would be better if the focus was on the trees rather than the water...

These are really great.

I think the last one could use a bit more contrast between the midtones and shadows.

For the rest, watch out for blowing your highlights.

Awesome compositions though.

These are all nice. I don't know which one to comment on.... but I will say "Fish into the Light" is very eye catching!

Nice and moody on the last one. Also any magazine editor would probably love all the negative space.

wow to Bio-Dome 2+3! really really like them, nice colours and composition and everything!

what exactly is this Bio-Dome? Is it a tropical greenhouse, is it hot in there? I always wanted to go and take photos in the local botanic garden, which has a tropical area. but i'm not sure if it's good for the camera and if i'm even allowed to take photos there...

I really like your work, the skies in your photo's are blown out in a couple of pictures, you got to watch those

From the last batch, I like nr. 3 the most, it's a great reflection in the water, it blends perfectly with the plants.

thanks everyone...

carolupus - yeah it's basically a tropical greenhouse and i don't know if it's any good for the camera, it's pretty hot and humid in there but it's hot and humid everywhere in Brisbane. the main problem with the Bio-dome is that you sometimes get water dripping from the roof and these were midday shots so there was a lot of light exploding through the roof.

Ment - thanks, some of the earlier work (with the sandbag wall on the beach) i was blowing out on purpose as an experiment to try to get that surreal hyper dream look... but i got a lot of complaints... :P

what a difference 10 minutes can make

these are a couple of pictures taken from a friends veranda yesterday as the sun was setting, these were taken about 10 minutes apart and i think they really illustrate the whole "right place right time" thing.

thanks for looking

Here's a couple of shots from my last trip to New Zealand and now that i've finally gotten Aperture working for me i can start putting some work into my older stuff.

"Life Takes Hold"
(taken on the White Island volcano, this was one of the only things i saw growing there, might have something to do with the giant sulfuric acid lake)

"Trees at Dawn"

"Red Poles"

Thanks for looking and let me know what you think.

Your landscapes are really inspiring. You have a good eye for compositions and the colors in your photos are really beautiful.

my favourites are backbone, fish into the light and the New Zealand photos - "Sulphur" and "Life takes hold" make me wish to travel there.
I like red poles a lot, too - which lens did you use for this one?

that was a nikkor 50mm, f1.8, ss1/3200, iso400, i should have lowered the iso because the nikon d80 gets a lot of noise at 400 and above but i was still learning the camera and i forgot to change it after doing some inside shots... you live and learn
