Goals

I don't really know about you guys but I tend to like to pick something, like a technique, to get good at and then move on to another. One at a time. Or achieve one and then when I go on to the other add the previous ones in with it.

So what are you guys working towards?

For me at the moment I'm wanting to try out panoramas :]

I'm working on non-over-the-top (is that even a word???) HDRs.

Haha, I guess I really SHOULD learn some basic photography techniques first and learn to use the camera's features the right way, because right now I'm pretty much a beginner in Photography... Does anybody know a good book about Analog B/W photography?

Anyway, I more or less do learning-by-doing, which means i read about some technique or general aspects on composition and such and then try to follow/use them when taking the next photos... not really professional but at least it makes sure that photography remains a fun thing for me!

But apart from that I concentrate on composition and the general developing process the most... and of course I'm working on taking the camera with me as often as I can ...

Regards Elian

Lol, JonS - great goal!

As I am a hobbyist I am still focusing on learning techniques.
At the moment it's zone system photography for everything b/w (unless it's infrared which is when my light meter won't work and I am screwed) and darkroom techniques.

Also, I'd love to be able to press the shutter more frequently. I keep thinking and thinking about my shots, not only setting everything up... mostly I am waiting for the right day or time of the day, weather...
And I regularly find myself wondering how on earth I am going to use up the remaining 10 or so shots of a 36 exp. roll...

so... goal: take more photos. Loosen up! Take shots I didn't think through before hand or something...

while we're at it...:

I'd love to:

- get a speedlight that can fire at various intensities (as opposed to firing at random or at full power only like the one I have now)
- buy a medium format capable enlarger
- learn advanced masking techniques (involving reproduction on technical pan)
- buy a TLR medium format (like this one)

As a lot of you will have figured if you've looked at my thread, my big thing at the moment is off-camera flash. I want to learn to skillfully use flash, having it obvious or subtle as the photo requires. I currently use it more like a jackhammer than a feather, and I need to learn both. Aside from this, I need to swap places with Mu and think *more* about my shots, and to this end I'm hoping to pick up a film camera soon and go film shooting once a month or so. These two done, try to:

-make some money
-have lots of fun
-avoid getting (another) camera strap tan on my neck.
