Bali Culture

Hello everyone!!! This is my first post and i like to share some of the photos i took during my visit to Bali, Indonesia.
Taken with Nikon D60, Canon eos D60, Canon eos 1000d
schoolGirls.jpg
The morning i walked by schoolgirls and took a pass by snap. They were each of them carrying a broom made out of coconut leaves stems.

Baskets.jpg
Women Carrying baskets on their head and walking to the temple.
DanceTraining.jpg
Some of the local community training cultural dance for a ceremony. It shows how they really work together doesn't matter young or old

Kakawin.jpg
As i stayed there, the locals introduced us with "kakawin" its a story telling ceremony and a series of hinduism poetry about religion, culture and myths.

Next was the "Topeng" ..topeng means mask..They act through the masks and beleived that an act are emphasised on facial expressions.. the mask exagerates the expressions..there are many masks..so they switched between roles.

Next is the famous "Kechak Dance of Bali"
kechakcircle.jpg
kechakleader.jpg
Its a dance with vocals in unison telling the story of Ramayana.

MorningRitual.jpg
The next morning i went to a marketplace to look for souvenirs and paintings... I saw a lot of the shopkeepers doing a morning ritual in front of the altar. It is to bless them with their daily lives.

PrettyWoman.jpg
I went to Kuta Beach after the market and saw i ritual..actualy it was a death ritual and i see a lot of women marching on the beach with white clothing carrying decorative baskets on their heads. And this one caught my eye..hehe

Smiling.jpg
A man smiling during the ceremony... they don't seem sad of death. Maybe they understand that it is part of lives and they have a very strong religous belief that the dead will reborn.

Well, hope you like some of the photos i shared...there's lots more and i liked to share and upload more in my freetime. thank you

Thanks for sharing your photos (and the explainations ). I really enjoyed looking at them - and there are some great portrait shots.

I wonder if everyone can see them? Inserting attachment into the text via thumbnails often doesn't work - so maybe it's better to just add all of them as an attchment like the last one.
