Cybershot White Wash

I ALWAYS get white wash with my sony cybershot.
I realize it's a pretty cheap digital camera, but still.
I have the DSC-S650 (dunno if that really tells anything though lol)
But I've tried the different settings on the wheel thingy, but none of those have worked.
My house is mostly low light, but the low light settings still white wash really bad, or are way too dark.
Is there some advanced setting i can use or something?
[total camera noob if you couldn't tell]
