I like this shot Gentile, it has a nice artistic quality to it. You captured the train well, and the addition of the kid balances it out more, and finishes it off nicely. Maybe cropped a bit too tight at the top?

No cropping. Just darkening the shadows a big, some contrast and boosted the mid tones a bit.

I vote for 4 and 10.
4 because of colors, which give a lot of dynamic. The tiling are not horizontal, it disturbs the composition but character's attitude is interesting.
It's a good shot which could be taken againt if the opportunity happen again.

10 is a good composition. It would be interesting to see it with more saturation and "burning" on yellow.

The last one is well done in contrasts, is interesting but it suffers of a lack on interest. It's jus a personnal opinion.

I really like 13's subject, but I feel a little too drawn to the kid in the light colored jacket. Not sure how to fix that, maybe a crop to the 3 kids on the right.

On 12 you could try desaturating the non-focal elements a bit; tone down that red jacket, subdue the greens/blues in the background - that sort of thing.

I agree with toning down or even cropping out that red jacket. Red is always going to dominate a picture. if its not your subject, it will detract from your subject because its so eye catching.

Love the kids on the train.. you do great work!

Nice children-portraits! I exspecially like the latest three.

I also like your color-scheme a lot, but I think with some you have to take care that they are not too overexposed, so that you don't lose too many details, like in 19 and 20.

If you can keep your highlights under control while maintaining the 'brightness' of the images then you will be doing *really* well. 22 shows that you can capture emotion really well, now all you need to do is work on your tech a bit and these will be stunning, not just emotive. Try playing around with your curves in photoshop/lightroom/whatever you have so that you can pull down the highs while brightening the mids.

I really like the one of the boy and the train, I don't think it needs cropping/altering at all.

The character of the last two shows through really well. 24 looks a hair off in terms of focus, that is, it appears to focus on the girls shirt, though it would work better focusing on the eyes. 25 has nice color and good composition/focus, but the curtains in the background distract (although their border does delineate a nice third).

Composition is great, but you need more saturation and contrast. They lack the real pop that the composition gives them, making them look halfway there but so easy to improve.

These are all really nice, especially the last one. I'm thinking the contrast could be better, but could that be the scanner's fault? What filter did you use?

purplerose: Oh man, I am IN LOVE with the darkroom. I would have stayed longer but my teacher had to leave. I was in there for 2 hours haha. And thanks! There is a bit more contrast in the actual prints, my scanner just sucks. And filters? I didn't use any...

Yay. :) I once stayed in the darkroom for 6 hours. It's so addicting. At school we have a set of filters for the enlargers. They help you control contrast in your prints. Oooh, have you started toning yet?

57 also looks very much like something from The Happening. Hopefully there is nothing around that countryside area that your friends can hurt themselves with (if you've seen the film, you'll know what I mean ;))

I like shot 58 and 68, 58 in particular because it's a similar lighting setup to what I have used in many of my recent shoots.
68 has a very nice old fashioned feel to it. A really nice shot, although it would have been a lot better if your model was wearing old fashioned clothing to fit the 'theme'.
