I was just wondering, if there is a way of making a fake white background at all?
I'd like to try some pics with my cousin, but she doesnt have a studio or anything so.. how can I photoshop in a background as effectivley as possible?
cheers :)

set up a white background using a large roll of white paper (you can probably get them at an art store or a photography supply store)
after you do that, set up some light (doesnt need to be studio lights, can be white lamps or ambient light) and take a shot.
then in photoshop, edit the curves of the photo (its in the menu with the gradient maps and photo filters) to make the whites whiter (the background whiter),

Or, you can use a white bedsheet like me. :)
• find a white wall
• paint a wall white
• use white paper
• use a white cloth
If you're going to use "regular" lights, either use tungsten balanced film, use the tungsten/incandescant white balance preset, or shoot a custom white balance.
If it's still not white enough for you, don't use Curves to adjust it - use Levels to set the white point. Image>Adjustments>Levels or command-L, pick the white eyedropper, and click on the area that is supposed to be "white." Do the same with the black and gray points.
