Need help on what camera to get

Well recently my dad and i decided to buy Canon Camera but there is so much variety and it would be nice if some people would tell me the price and best camera to get with facts and information and i'm kind of new at camera

i would want canon 40d for my opinion but i would like to know other people's opinion thank you :p

we can afford it but i'm just wondering which one should i get cause i'm really new at cameras

what would ur needs be? shooting 3.5 frames a sec or 6.5 frames a sec? via XSI or 40D.

But really invest in lenses... wide angle or zoom.

Like he said, it really depends on what you need. If you are a beginner, then you might want to go with a less expensive camera. That said, the 40D is a great camera, I have it. I bought it instead of the older generation canon's because i knew i wanted to be a photographer, and wanted something that could grow with me, whereas you will be more likely to have to upgrade if you stick with it after buying a canon rebel XTi for example.

However, as long as you take care of the camera, they have good resell value if you decide you spent too much or aren't taking as many pictures as you thought you would. the 40D is a great camera. Hot buttons so you can change settings without going through the menus, other bells and whistles..

However, it is my personal opinion that if you are planning on only shooting on program modes and not picking your own aperture and shutter speed and ISO that you are wasting your money buying a nicer camera. If you are going to buy a nice camera, be sure you learn how to use it for all it can do. Learn how to shoot AT LEAST on aperture and shutter priority modes, or completely on manual, or else you might as well buy a cheaper camera.

But, as ukanfoff said, invest the majority of money in your lenses.

that said, the 40D is a great camera.. the Nikon D200 is also good, and about the same level as the 40D.. Don't let anyone tell you that canon is great and nikon is crap, or vice versa, they both make good products. The D200 is weather sealed, so that is also something to consider if you plan on taking photos in rain and dust ect.

Anyway, 40D is great... but really any SLR camera (one with interchangable lenses) will give you the ability to control your image making. So if you are super new, it might be a good idea to get a Canon Rebel XTi and then upgrade once you have a feel for photography.
