HI, i take photos of everyhting and nothing. And yeah....


I took these photos at the local miniracing club, i have to tell ya it was a huge challange, my lense AF is slower than a slug in midwinter. Anyway, it didnt help me that the weather was way to grey and dark. But it was a great excercise.

I also have alot of fun shooting Motocross and Freestyle riders, no matter how much the shot sucks, they always seem to like them hehe.

I like the car shots, though the backgrounds are a bit meh

the building in the background of the first one is a bit distracting for instance

a tighter crop on the 3rd one might help, taking out the edge of the track thats in the bottom left corner and perhaps along the top as well

and that last one of the biker in the air, it looks like he is just held there on strings, no sense of movement or action in it

kinda cardboard cut out ish

keep shooting and trying new angels etc, if you can get down lower for the racing cars (tricky given the size of them), you might get some interesting pics

Numbering your photo's makes it much easier (for me) to comment.

Number 2 is the best from the first batch, you really caught the action of the spinning wheels.
With these competitions, you don't really have a choice when it comes to background, maybe try next time to get some people in the background, cheering as hell for those little things ;) It makes it more interesting to watch.

It's to bad you miss a part of the wheel in the first photo of the second batch, with it you had a nice action photo.

Went out in my dads boat (or bad leaking excuse for a boat)

I cant ever get happy with my shots when i know whatever i do i dont get them as sharp as i want them to be. It might be my lense though.

I really like the colors and composition in #2. #1 has nice colors as well, but the composition could be improved upon by working off the angles of the brown structure and not centering it.

Really awesome photos of the bee, especially the last one. Just work a bit more on your sharpness and contrast.

I like the first white flower image. Perhaps a square crop would make it stronger. Same thing for the last one with the leaves.

Great progress in this thread!

I'm really fond of your action photos - the ones with the surfers are awesome - they look professional.

I also like the Crete photos a lot - nice way of capturing the feel of a place. The foggy morning serial is also very beautiful.

In the photos of your girlfriend I think the poses could be a bit more natural, they look a bit stiff - and I'd be careful with cropping hands - hands carry so much expression, it's a pity to lose that :)

Nike: I totally agree with you on the poses and hands, im working on that. I dont know how i could mess up the cropping so bad. I had it in mind but i guess i forgot it when i got stressed shooting.

Part II

Part I is a nice series, 4th one is my fave. Would try to give a bit more strength to the shadows by making them darker, but not too dark to kill the current look. Also, the borders on those are a bit large, may want to shrink the sizes a bit to prevent a lot of scrolling on smaller monitors.

In Part II, I love the 2nd one and the last one with the chair. Although, I wish the chair was a tad sharper.

fantastic work! I really enjoy looking at your pieces, especially the action and natural comps. You have really mastered your exposures. I have no crits for that work but i may be able to inspire on the portraits.

posing is all about angles and natural look. you want the body to make complimenting 'triangles' in the comp and cropping is also key to this. light is a sergical knife cutting away at the skin to make shapes and create mood. I would look at as much 1940s pinup as you can bc the posing is pristine. basically practice and planning and you'll master that very quickly.

oh, your whole last batch isn't available. would've really liked to see it. your insects shots and the plants are my favourite ones i would say. i know it's tough to shoot (especially in broad daylight), but in your model car shots the almost sharp background is really distracting, i think. like that bicycle in front of the sky, though. and that last photo of your car shoot.

oh, now i see those last ones! those are great! i really like the close ups - especially the one of her shoulder with her hair. and the photo of her lying on the bed has a very classical feel to it, well done! lovely color scheme, too. her portraits look a little bit too casual (or snapshot like) to me.

hah, thanks for posting. Those pictures are really embarassing to look at since i have learned so much the last year. And ive changed my style ALOT since then.
