downsizing photos

I am new to computers. Bear with me on this. I have already posted my photos but they are too large. Exactly how do I go about making them smaller? What size do they need to be to not have to scroll to view them?

Normally people's screen resolution is 1024 x 768, so the width shouldn't be too much, maybe 900px? You could use Microsoft Office Picture Manager (if you've got Office), and if you don't have any programs to do this, you could always google. I dunno if http://www.picresize.com/ is any good, but you could try it.

First we need to know what imaging applications you have, in order to tell you how to do it.

Using Picture Manager as described above will work, but it's about as good as trying to spread butter with a cable axe.
