If you ever get a chance to take a darkroom class, I think you would love working with Alternative processes : Van Dyke Brown, Cyanotypes, Inkodyes, Gum Bichromate and especially making Pinholes.
Look into it dude. :)

Work on your blurring. It's really distracting, and can give head aches. I think if this was sharper, it would be a pretty intense picture. The lightings great, with the girl turning into a silhouette.

I was actually hoping to see you come back to old fashioned focusing by now...:D
I like how your street photography is evolving. The eye is just right. The blur is debatable.
Different thought. I don't know if you can synchronize flash on the second curtain on your camera, but even if you can't:
shooting long exposures with a flash firing during exposure is a nice way to combine a sharp figure with trails of ghostly transparent images of the same figure in one shot!
See? I am smoothing the way back for you...:D
(btw, if you're smoothing the way for someone, it's much nicer to use the german idiom for this. We say we're "building golden bridges" for someone...:D )

Very experimental, that shows you have a lot of fun with your tools! That's what a scrapbook is for. :)
Many of the extremely blurry ones don't really catch my eyes, though. I think that this stuff works, the composition needs to be top notch and the blur has to add to the atmosphere - like showing speed, a lot of motion in a huge crowd etc. - that's not that easy to achieve, but I think it's good to experiment with it either way :).
I really like the first of the carshots and the latest 2 updates. The colors are very nice in these shots and I like the compositions, too.
Keep it up!
ivy'sgrandkid
02-28-2008, 05:20 AM

In response to "purity." You have to find subjects and/or concepts/moods that really shine through with your blurring technique. You have the technique, now you need to find the right subjects. Only then, will your "photo style" be unique and very pleasing to look at. I think the addition of titles would help a bit as well. :)

the "forks" is nice , i like that you almost have to search for the fork and i love pictures where you can see the artist hiding in the object.
the new melon picture was really interesting, after sitting so close to my screen and seeing so many sharp pictures i didn't like the soft focus when i saw it but then i stepped back from my computer a couple of feet and the whole picture changes and i really like it (this can work the other way around as well, i've had some pictures i've really liked but when i printed them and looked from a distance they didn't work any more).
if i could add anything i would probably look into a really slight vignette effect to make the central colours really pop and separate the white line between the green and the red section from the white of the counter top.
but thanks for reminding me to take a different point of view sometimes.
was sharp to begin with, i blurred it, you should know me by now guys I don't like purity

The photo's of the glasses are very original and creative, I like them.
I'm not really fond of the edges of the fence, I understand why you left it this way, but the not focused foreground distracts me. The b/w is really great, I like the contrast.
The contrast in the last one is also great, my only point of critisism is that the head of the person floats in space, I miss the rest of the body.
