i got a couple of lens mount macro filters so i thought i'd run a couple of tests.
the dice are beautifully lit by the television and ET was lit using the D80's onboard flash bouncing off an open book. these were handheld so they're not as sharp as i would have liked but as the title suggests they were just quick tests. enjoy...

I really like the one with the dice. The lighting is awesome. Should play around with different compositions for them and a solid color background as well.

love the dice. I have some 10 sided dice that look like that. I really like the shape and lighting.
And I absolutely love the black and white. The shapes are great. the circular and lines really make for a great composition. I like the juxtaposition of the reflected shapes and the lily pad shapes. beautifully done!

i wasn't quite sure which category to put this one in (landscape..?) but i figure that as the focal point isn't the landscape it would fit better under still life. i would like to reshoot this one with a tripod to get a better depth of field... one day...
Very nice ompositions and colors - I think the last two are my favourites. I'm looking forwards to seeing more :)

thanks, these are all just taken late at night lit by the TV, the last one is the only one i tried any colour correction on, before that it looked like the other dragon shot. i've also tried experimenting with the borders a bit using gradients instead of solid colour and getting the colours from the image itself.

The Batman one works the best for the lighting setup you used. Could be a tad sharper though.
