I'm new to macro photography and was wanting some critiques on these shots...am I on the right track? Does anyone have any suggestions?

Pretty good compositions on these. The keys to macro is focusing in the shallow DOF. For example, the first one has a focused area, but it's not the head of the butterfly. If you shift the DOF back to the head, the focus will be on the most important part of your image.

The focusing on the 6th one is great.

Also, try to play around with contrast in a program like Photoshop to help your images "pop" more.
