I hope this is in the right section,If not feel free to move it:)
Right...Desperately trying to learn how to take DOF images,Portraits and the like, currently have got a Nikon D40 with standard 18-55 lens on, But I seem to have no joy with that unless I get really close to something.
I've been searching on the net but can't anything to help due to my complete lack of knowledge in photography i struggle to understand all the jargon and how it relates.
I found this paragraph whilst trawling;
"There are some subjects where you want the main subject to stand out strongly from an out-of-focus background. Portraiture, where the emphasis is on the person, rather than the location, is probably the most popular area. What you need here is a use a telephoto lens at its widest aperture. "
Is this true? Do I need a different lens? Can anyone recommend one for under £200. I'm getting a bit frustrated not knowing what do :(
Thanks All:)
