"You have to master technique of course, but that's just a burden to get out of the way to free yourself to tackle the really hard part. "

I like this,as it applies to me allot outside of photography....I have allot of technical knowledge (anatomy, colour theory, perspective) which I gained from fine art....but when It came to actually make a nice piece of art...i've always struggled...because until about a year ago I thought technically knowledge was everything.

Photography, hopefully, will take me out of that for a while and get me to focus on actually composing an image...and hopefully this will find its way into my painting.

I've seen this before, but thanks for throwing it in my face again :)

yea, use those techniques u learn in fine art and transition that into foto.
i found that it helped me a lot, even i dont paint or draw as much as i used to in art school. i still apply it in my fotos.

After reading that through again,I notice i'm still having the same problem.Getting too much into the technical side....i'm out there worry about shutter speeds.I think i'll take his advice and just worry about composing an image..in an automatic mode.

If something really goes "OH MAN...THAT WOULD LOOK GREAT IF...." then i'll change the mode.
