Ive been lingering in the dark back corners of CA.org for years with little motivation to create any finished work of my own.

Well, i got off my ass and went on a little afternoon stroll through the desert within walking distance of my house with my brother (2nd to last pic is of him). of the hundreds of shots I took, I felt these were the most interesting.

I love toying with light and contrast, however my compositions seem stale on the whole. any and all criticism is appreciated.

i think with ur inanimate objects i noticed that you frame it somewhat in the middle. try cutting its off, show like 3/4 shows in the pic, and try different angles.
well keep shooting....

I try to incorporate more negative space, but the Arizona landscape around here is littered with distracting plants and objects making that difficult. As far as cutting off parts of the object... not sure where on any of the above I'd be able to get away with that without it feeling awkward. Maybe thats just me.

Any examples?

[edit] Looking now, the B/W tire, i could crop the image cutting down some of the shadow on the left side. Might make the comp a little more dynamic.
