A thread for my experiences...

I lived in Thailand and China for the past eight months and had a number of life changing experiences while in Asia.

Jess and I donated to saving these big cats from the continual threat of poachers in Thailand and got some pics with them while we were at it...even got to play with the cubs.

I expected the tigers to be soft and cuddly in some way. I guess because they are so beautiful. But there was nothing soft about them. Their fur was course and strong like a bristle brush and their bodies were rock hard muscle, sinew, and bone...as they should be.

These animals in the pics are entirely sober. The heat of the day makes them lazy...but after seeing one pretty much shred a tree with it's claws, and another chewing a big log like a toy, I realized we were at their mercy Fortunately, none of them seemed to know that since they were so well fed.

For those with maybe higher resolutions this is going up to down, left to right, I like 3, 5 and 6 a lot and 7 a fair bit (yet not quite as much).

As for 3, it seems kinda obvious when you think about a tiger's diet, but it's amazing just how small their front teeth are. Even though they eat meat, meat and more meat I was kinda expecting their front teeth to a be a bit bigger, to fit in with the rest of them.

As for 5 and 6, well, I just think they're quite nice photos in terms of the angle they're taken from/displaying. Also ickle tigers are very cute, even if one did bite my ankle once... hang on, that tiger's probably dead now... awh.

As for 7, damn that's some peeved tiger. It's interesting how a tiger's face just looks scary, the black and orange, the sharp stripes, the highlighted eye-region - many of us live in cities for all of our lives, many of us may never see a tiger, yet still it's natural to be scared witless by them.

Also, shame to hear they're not all fluffy... I always thought they looked fluffy, too. Even though - like the incisor thing above - they obviously shouldn't be, there's just something about their fuzz that suggests they are.

In the second picture - my cat does that with my thigh... after seeing your photo my cat will never be awesome.

You must have had a great time. I and my family love Thailand (so do many other swedes), and we have been there I think 5 times. Very friendly people, and the food is really good.

Reminds me of my own cat. She's a little tiger.
I bet it was abit scary to walk around between those big meat-eating tigers. I would soil my pants.

I would like to live in China and Asia myself, sounds great.

It's still nice to pick the ones that have good composition, etc. as they're the ones that'll attract the attention and look more snappy. They may not mean to be artsy, but the ones that have a certain form are still nicer to look at. It was less critique and more 'damn, that looks good!'. I'm still upset to find they're not fluffy.

i hear ya...i seriously thought they would be fluffy or soft too. lol

makes no sense to think such things I suppose, considering they are top of the food chain animals...but still.

I like them as shots of your life, which I assume is another thing that a scrapbook is important for. I miht have to make myself one of these things for this kind of stuff. Nice going, and I too am disappointed that they don't have soft fur.

What Beautiful animals...- I saw a program on TV about the Tiger Sanctuary you have visited. Hey, seeing as your on that side of the world - if you get the chance to go to New Zealand again, visit the Zion Wildlife Park north of Auckland. The founder had made a show called Lion Man, which is pretty cool. He raises tigers and lions and I'm sure you'd enjoy the visit!
