Hi there, first post, long time lurker. here are some things ive been working on recently, trying to work up the currage to move into color thingsusing the same "painted" style, aswell as doing something other than photoref:
and the reference:
another photo ref(kinda, i took off her pants):
this one is me, I did looking in a mirror:
Mainly looking for sujestions, any glaring errors, or just kudos, whatever is clever Thanks for looking,
First two are OK, too much like photos IMO, but the third one has no anatomical accuracy at all -- your whole chest is really messed up, so are your arm and face. I'd start over.
:Whenever you touch me I go as limp as a noodle!
: Yes, I know the feeling.
The first painting, compared to the photo, the "reflected" part is too sharp/too much in focus. The neck in the reflection looks a little weird as well, I think you've misinterpreted the photo. Her hair covers part of her neck in the photo. The proportions in the face are also incorrect, she ends up looking a little too thin.
The problem with the last one is that the pose isn't something you can constantly look at and draw at the same time. You probably moved slightly each time you went to check it, which results in an odd-looking composite. I would suggest finding a friend who will pose for you.
Your works are not bad, I think you have good technique. Just spend more time sketching (from life, not photos) until you get the proportions down.
In that first image, try softening and lightening the shadows on her face. The way you have it now she looks like she is in her 40s, in the photo she looks much younger.
thanks alot guys i will fiddle around with them!
