Your characters are sooo awesome!
great watercolours. love the animals
@Darius: Thanks, I hope to do more iin the future. With stronger colors. Right now some of them are not really usable for a print. ^^
Here another speedpainting from a photo ref. somewhere from the web.
I think this skincolors that shine so much is very tricky to pick (Somewhere in the high value and middle chroma of a red orange). Right after the ones when the character is total in the shadow with a almost grey skin.
Like the serpentine critter, stoked to see where it goes
@Odayaga: Thanks, I want to work more on that one.
After I finnished some models in the sculpting sections, I finally came back to heads, studys and all the stuff. After a lot of confusion and not knowing where to go or what to do, I started to do the most simple thing:
Just draw what you dont like a 100 times or more...
In my case that would be heads and faces. And I am sure there are a lot of unknown disscomfort zones out there. ^^
So here goes:
Selfportraits, Faces from mind, and faces from photos
you're so GOOD at drawing faces! and i absolutely love your animal studies on the first page.
hey man, great stuff in there, i like your watercolors, and the little sketches like "concentrate"" are quite fun too, nice life in general in your works, keep on posting!
s i m o n
@neonndreams: Thanks, but there is still a long way to go I think. Though I wouldnt mind if I get there quicker. ^^
Thanks, here is anotehr face from mind.
Its quite ok, but somethings still wrong. My dream is to be somewhere near Craig Mullins Art. someday. ^^
nice studies mate. the only thing i notice is some of the proportions in face are off! keep studying that loomis!
my subconscious does not stop begging my conscious to draw.
hmm does that mean im a slave to my subconscious?
at least it doesnt beg for crack. ha.

Some pictures of the models I made over the last weeks. They are made of paper, except for the Tops-skull. Details and WIPs on my blog.
This was a lot of fun and refreshing. I dont feel like "why cant I do this" when I make models. Right now, I will take a break from digital work, because I feel kind of lost in that medium right now. So I will do more watercolors and acrylics.
I would love to try out oils too, but I dont have that extra room to do that. And I dont want to paint in my living room with all that oils and gas. ^^
You're really coming along with those heads. The second pass on that greyscale girl was much better, although her cheeks are looking a little flat, and I think her nose is skewed slightly to the right.
Your animal studies are fabulous, love the tigers, and that dinosaur model is super cool.
@Revidescent: The cheeks give me trouble, they have no special shape, are round, soft edged.... at least most of the time...
When I try to think of them as planes it becomes really vague.
Here 2 Acrylics I did yesterday after looking through too many awesome SB. ^^
Scanned and reworked in PS. I think everyone can see the Paul Bonner influence on the troll. XD
I want to do more than always just studys. so I will start a sort series of different character shots. As a practice, for routine and for the portfolio.
Here a Scotsman for the start. I dint want to give him the barbarian celtic look, so no tribals, but he is no nobleman either. So a rough, knight.
The anatomy could be better I guess. Especially around the biceps/elbow
Not sure yet how I will go on with it. Watercolor? Acrylics? Or digital ?
Hey thanks for much for popping by my sketchbook, I agree. I do need to label that type of work for clients, fortunately though this job is without a client. So I get to art direct myself. With help of you guys of course.
Your sketchbook has progressed so far, when was the last time you went back through and studied your old work to see your improvement? You're young and talented, so keep up the self pressure and post as often as you can. Also don't be afraid to draw things you don't like, I hate drawing hands and feet, but i need to draw them. I love the life of an artist theres always something new to learn. Also are you participating in the COW and CHOWs?
Great animal paintings and studies!
