hey guys havn't been around for ages, volleyball has kind of taken over my life for the moment.
currently I am shooting with my stock 18-55m and a sigma 70-210mm 4.5f
I am looking at getting a prime 50mm and a 23mm 2.3f
I have also talked to some local skaters I have permission to shoot so I am going to try my hand at that.
here are some pics that I have taken lately that I have been satisfied with. C&C appreciated
thanks for looking
I will first start with some shots from my SW reef tank and its corals
anthelia with actinic lighting

Yay, I look forward to skate photos one thing puzzles me though: You have to ask the skaters for permission? I have them asking me to take them.
Your photos are showing a good variety, although I prefer some of your earlier work. I think the first one needs the focus point moved closer towards the lens, but apart from that I have no real crits.
the first pic, I was holding a set of 49mm close up filters to my 52mm lense, so I was having a hard time working the focus, I will go back and try to move the focus towards the viewer.Originally Posted by klips
well it was more asking them if it bothered them that I shot them, small town people are kind of weird, although they are already planning some crazy stuff to show me.
I took this last batch to see if I could shoot that style, it was interesting people looked at me funny when I was taking photos of buildings and stuff, some people asked for there photos to be taken, it was pretty fun. I may do it again sometime this spring.
I will also look for some skaters in the cities parks see what I can get there.
thanks for the crits klips
Very good composition also in the architeture spacing, very nice

well here are 2 from the other day, I am going to take the bike and ride into the country hopefully I will have some more pics to show this evening.
here are the pics from the bike ride, and 2 pics from my reef tank.
and here are 2 coral pics
Green star polyps
sorry if the pics are dark I edited them on a different computer, and the monitor seems to be out of wack on it
well I took some pics this afternoon, and the more this evening when I got my new coral.
here are the pics of the coral, I used 2 sets of 49mm macro filters held in front of my 52mm lense, I will be looking for 52mm filters soon.
red mushroom coral.
this is an edge of a green open brain coral
I took a long bike ride into the country found an old road that hasn't been used in ages so here are some pics.
I still have to go back and check out an old barn I found.
the macro of the lock where taken using my 49mm filters again
thanks rose and eazym
I spent my day in the city today, just walking around taking pics, I bought a new lense a 28mm 3.5f with polarizing filter, about 90% of these where taken with it.
Wow, you're a busy photographer.
I like the macro shots of petals and leaves as well the one of the lock as you get very clear subject matters then while taking the overall image into the realm of the abstract - a contrast I really like about photography.
#10b, the house in the blue reflection is a wonderfully soothing image to look at. I am looking forward to future experimentations with reflections in your thread as you seem to have an liking for them.
13b looks like a theater stage prop. I feel like leaning back and letting the actors flood the stage, sort of. Really nice.
thanks Mr Mu.
I figure the more shots I shoot the better I will get hopefully.
I am going to keep workig with macro shots, I am looking for some more interesting subjects around me.
I will also be going back to those buildings and trying to get some more reflection shots.
13b is a view across the river, lots of fun going down the trails there and shooting.
well hopefully I will have some more pretty soon here
here are 3 from today. Didn't go as snap happy lol
Nice shoots but i don't like the "grain" of the last two.
But all is a really Good Work

thanks I am working on getting better at focusing my macros.
here are some pics I took while in abbotsford BC// and vancouver, had volleyball nationals there for 6 days.
These are from just before I left for nationals I didn't have time to upload them.
well I went into the city the other day with my bike and camera, and spent about 7 hours biking around shooting.
these are all macros I took that same day, went to a greenhouse and snapped some.
well I will start with some fish and coral photos. the rest are of a bleeding heart plant that I thought would be an interesting subject and some dogwood tree buds
SW coral anthelia
any crits on these would be awsome
Most of these are a work compositionally speaking. however, you need to put so time in your technique as well. You see, many of them are under-exposed. Also, use depth of field to isolate your subject.
Like, take this last bunch for example. Great DoF on all of them but most are underexposed. Other batches are the other way arround. Good exposure but lack good subject isolation.
Anywayz, it's really good to see you back on the forums.
okay thanks for the heads up legab,, I have been trying to work on my DOF and exposure.
hopefully this batch is better for exposure
took some more photos today before collecting earthworms.
I had a very nice dragonfly pose for me for a bit
well here are some more,, could use any crits given.
thanks for any crits or help
you say crit me hard, but it's hard to do.
I will try to pull things outta my nose anyway...
it's a square composition, isn't it? One of the hardest formats out there, imo. Kudos for... argh! hang on. Crit.
erm, the frame is leaner on the sides than on the top and bottom? Feck, that's ruining the image, man! (you see, I am trying real hard)
HAHA, I got you now - it's the frame again! Apart from that it's one of those images which dance on the line between representational and abstract which I really love.
there's a strange dark worm-like line in the top center and a dust spot on the left border which really distract from an otherwise ethereal photo with a dreamy atmosphere.
If I had painted something like this I would be unbearable in my bloated self esteem for weeks to come. Wonderful.
It's getting a bit tiresome. wonderfullysoftblahblahexcellentblahblahwishitwas mine
kay, can go on now...
you know those japanese stories about those zen masters who keep a single simple ikebana arrangement in their hallway which looks kind of casually, but has to be rearranged in a ceremony each morning which can only done by the master himself, because everyone else wouldn't be able to reach a mindset of peace and contemplation so deep that they can think of what not to include in order to produce a masterpiece?
Well, you don't need to know. That thing looks like a shot of that arrangement.
there's a very out of focus hair in that photo, but by now I am willing to believe you placed it there and adjusted the focus so it mars a shot that would otherwise have been to boringly immaculate. Did you?
That one does not talk to me. Unfortunately, I can't tell you why. Seems to be a subjective thing. Believe me, I would have loved to find something to crit hard. HA! Wait! The frame again, tsk tsk....
Did I mention the Zen shit? Yea. I did.
looks like the trees raised their arms to worship the sun. Otherwise I like the rest of this last update better.
Gosh, I need to recover from the exhausting task of finding something to pick on. Are you happy now!?
Wow, very nice update man!
1x: There is some noise/grain in the green areas and the blurry part in the middle is a bit distracting, but I love the softness.
3x: I'm not really feeling the cloud.
4-9x: PURE GENIUS!!
10x: I think a better crop would help.
WE WANT MORE!
Great photos! For now I want to come back to Ukraine and take macro lens to try! (I’m study in PL).
I’m searching a designer for illustrate internet club radio www.smileradio.net . If anybody interested in contact me.
wow,, thanks so much Mr Mu , rose, BigMad.
thanks for the crits,, I will have to work on them some more,, and repay the love.
here is a new batch,, edited with CS3 so they might not be my best.
sky shot 2
daisy shot 2
dogwood flowers 2
took these while coming back from the city.
tips and crits wanted.
Boost up the brightness (these are more or less underexposed) and you've got yourself a bunch of great photos of flora.
