my vote goes to sam, for being freaking amazing.
hmm, i have a bit of a thing for pilons (in no way sexual) i have lots of photos of them because i think there very striking and when put in someware of natural buity can offer a hell of a contrast between the subjects
My vote as you guest goes to alucard. Its very relevant to the subject, (power lines) i like the composure, and the slight toning of the image.
Runner up prise, That goes to klips. Me and emma (my partner) realy like your image, like the toning and above anything else its relevent to the topic and intresting to look at. Only thing i would of done differntly was perhaps rotate it 1dg to the left as its at a little bit of a slant
Specal mention goes out to easym, I like the lighting and the subject. You have a clearly defined line in the picture but what really interests me is the texture generated from the lighting and the wall finish. Only thing i would of changed (i know its cleshay) is to have croped the left of the image by 1cm so that the line falles exactly down the center of the image, if it does allready, sorry my eyes are just wonky!!
there were a number off good and very good entrys this week, its nice to have a large turn out for the topic again. This week i should be able to actualy go out and get some images, but ill tell you about it later on today if it all goes to plan!
any how someone, and morbid. Dont take offence, but you 2 cn do much better. I have spent a lot of time looking at both your photos and your threds!! someone. It was a little dissapointing mate, i know you can do better. Your image was slightiny out of focus and the lighting was realy uncreative mate. I couldnt see any depth and very little in the way of shadows due to the angle you shot it. Next time take a more creative angle? or perhaps ditch the flash and light it from the left hand side with a spot light?
Morbid, the consept was there, the photo was very very very nearly there but it lost out. it may have faired better in B&W but the main reasons the photo ditracted from your usal VERY VERY high standerd of images is because of the lead in and out of the photo
the lead in is slightily off center and i find it distracting, towards the middle of the photo there is a bit if litter and it pulls your eye to the left, and at the end of your destonation though the photo, there is some kind of bin or somthing and it kind of takes away from the gerny though your photo.
Please dont take this as a beeting, its just i have time for a little, well a long post this morning and i wanted to be honast and say what im thinking, The only reason I have been harsh on you 2 is because i know that your usal standerd is much much much higher
Thanks for the honest crits Sam. The pic was originally intended to test out my new lens, I liked it alot because I was suprised by the performance of the lens I guess. Looking at it now I agree with you, it could have been much better.
Voted for Morbid's photo despite its flaws. Simply put, in my opinion the "line" in it is the best of the bunch and really catches the eye. It'd be very cool with something at the end of the line, like a person looking out to sea...
My second choice was Kurdt's picture as it uses the concept of the line leading you to the subject (the cat) very well... Unfortunately, it's focused on the ground instead of the subject which really breaks it.

I declare this poll over! Awesome work (I voted for you) Sam, please find a new topic, and I think the closing date will be the 20th, yes?
That said, this is the fourth time I've come second. So lame!
thanks for all that voted for me!!, cheers lkips. Ill get the new topic opened today and we shall take it from there....now to think of a topic
Hey Sam thanks for the crits. Yes, I know my picture fairly sucked... I did think it ironic, however, that the light did indeed come from a spot on from the left. The reason you couldn't see shadows really is that the strings on the piano are almost touching the other part. As for flash, I don't think I've ever taken one picture with it because I hate it Anyway... Once I got this pic on my computer I realized that it was quite fuzzy, which was my BIGGEST peeve with it, because that's generally my biggest peeve with pictures in general. And likewise, nothing is more beautiful in a good picture than just the right focus... I obviously did not get it right this time
Perhaps I will upload and post the other pictures of my piano's guts that I took while I was shooting these. I think I might actually do that right now...
