Hello CA
Hopeing to get better at digital painting by doing lots of speedpainting. Advice and feedback would be nice.

Im going to dump aloada new stuff & old stuff of mine here.

Good start on the digital painting, are you sketching it
on paper first? It is good that you are limiting your
color palette, especially like the monochromatic ones.

most of my paintings are done over a scanned in sketch from my sketchbooks. only some are done without and sketch.

there will be more new and old paintings to come.

Nice concepts you have. Maybe trying to blend the colours with more care? It's looking dirty in most areas.

hello again!

WhiteVillage - I know what you mean about the colouring at the moment im not too good at colouring with alot of care. hope to get better.


Heres some more recent work done about in between now and 2 weeks ago.

First-
Me practicing colouring without reference. looks like Rambo V Dragon
Second -
Original sketch was for a DSG called Windy City for got to post it tho.
Third -
Colour practice using a reference photo.

New sketch done rather quickly this morning.

some sort of flying reseach aircraft. In a big cave.

I use Paint Shop Pro9 & Painter 9 if anyone wants to know.

Its ok to be lazy!

You're making a great, strong start. Keep at it! Keep trying to add more and more detail to your work. Maybe make the canvas larger and work closer in. I like your ideas too. Good imagination.

Until next time, keep at it and eventually more people will notice.

You're well on your way -- pay more attention to perspective, and back off on the saturation a little. And don't draw your sketches in black -- use a color close to the base color of your image. It won't show through nearly as much when you miss spots when you paint over it. It'd probably also help to do some longer studies to round out the speedpainting. Keep it up!

Small post since i havent posted in a while.

funfetus - Thanks for the advice. Much appreciated.

Im a Farscape fan so these were done by me sometime during this year.
oldest to newest.
and quite quickly painted ,each using a reference. but not using the colours from the references.

Cool Practice

Thought id do some painting practice by colouring movie still using the still for colour reference. From the film Heat if anyone dosent know.

I tried to do them quite quickly aswell.

The first - was finnished a couple weeks ago and i think i spent too long on it. (i think i need some practice drawing leaves)

The second - Mainly trying to get Yoda, to look like Yoda.

The third - Painting using some colour refs from starwars.

The forth - Quick painting using a reference for colour.

my only crit would be that u musn't forget about the basics,
your ideas are strong but u miss some techniques, u know the basics,

do some more ref studies, prefereble from real live
