hey Davi, good to see you started with the evironment quickies already Keeps me motivated as well.

Watch your perspective though, the building in the middle doesn't follow the same perspective as the buildings next to it it seems. Check with the horizon and vanishing points.

As for some good reference material, I stumbled upon this website of a good landscape photographer a couple of months ago: Maciej Duczynski. He has a lot of great environment pictures, allthough quite a few of them are b&w. There are also some links to other sites with good stuff.

yoitisi, thanks for the link, ill give it a shot. I wasnt worrying too much about perspective since i was trying to hit a 30 minute deadline, but... it would probably make it easier down the line if i had some type of grid marked up. Thanks for the advice.

BohemianChaos: I'll try, but no promise that youll understand anything i say. I plan on fumbling my words and picking my jaw alot.

body builders are a great reference for learning anatomy because everything is so exaggerated, but DO NOT use that as your only source. Use yourself in a mirror if you have to; When i look at my arm not flexing it looks generally rounded until i flex, yet a body builder in idle state will have tons of his muscles showing. It's ok to over exaggerate the human form when learning the figure, but try to also learn the subtleties of the form.

leaving for Seattle in the morning, be back soon with melted brain.

A grid is maybe not necessary, just keep an eye on the horizon and vanishing points. Some perspective mess-ups are inevitable I guess, but try to keep them minor.

I guess the workshop is keeping you busy, but..more please ?

hey man, yeah it really does help to do a little painting studies , like the building one at the top, feels a little muddy to me tho and maybe there would stiil be light coming through to the buildings at the front a little? with the fifth drawing down, the drawing looks cool, but the right eye doesnt seem right - the iris seems too straight on when the rest of the head is facing to the right. keep the updates coming

sweet sketches davi! revelations must've been a blast! just a minor crit, i think rendering of your hair seems to be a bit "block-y" in parts, take sketch 2,3 and 6 for example, if you compare the lines in sketch 8 before you started rendering with the hair in sketch 7 you'll see what i mean, i really dig creatures though, great imaginative stuff there

Nice update Reminds me that I must do human figures...

The second from below looks a bit..tight?..shouldn't the shoulders be a little more lower?

thanks guys(and girl),

hyver: im not sure how much i should put into his shadows though cause i'm afraid it will pull him too far out of the environment and cause it to look "pasted" in.
