to Gilead, if you eventually get to read this, it was nice meeting you man. i'll come back to this class soon !
For today, some life drawing. After months and months of not doing any. I really need to do some more. Had a hard time getting to good lines and proportions, but the values were easier to find.
More soon !
That last page is money. Pure, unadulturated money.
Bleh, I'm sick of having no crits. So I'll just not say anything for now. Top-line stuff Dan my man. The life drawings are looking really good, I think you have a wonderful way of showing the form and making it believable. You have this awesome quality in you rendering lately that I can't find the words to describe. First class, keep it up bro.
As for me, I've been finishing up with my second year at college. Will be starting a new sb here soon, keep your peeled or I'll have to peel em for ya. Also have a thread in FF if you really do want to see what I've been up to .
cool lifedrawings dude! the rendering is kind of messy though, try to think allot broader when laying down value patches. That is easier said than done though
also, with your lines, try to get them to overlap more and go into the figure to create depth!
how long where those poses anyway?
the arm thats holding the lady up looks abit wonky on the first pic (around the elbow area) but thats all i could pick up sorry, great stuff man...life drawing definitely helps, keep pushing it
Your work in your sketchbooks is truely inspiring. I just have a couple questions for you if you dont mind...
I saw in the first few pages of your first sketchbook that you mentioned wes burt as one of your influences. What are some other artists that have also had an impact on your art?
And, for your sketches with the smooth shading... are you using a blending stump?
Thanks for the inspiration, your art work is really great!

Damn, these are one of the best pencils I've seen around here. Shapes and light...and everithing is so solid, I feel so misserable with my scriblings now that I'm looking at your stuff, keep up the good work !!! And you have some realy solid designs there on top of everything
Great to meet you too Daniel, your work is even more impressive in person. I didn't go back to look at the rest of your sketchbook because I had charcoal all over my fingers, but what I saw was awsome stuff.
I hope you join us for life drawing as often as you can.
Gilead Artist on Facebook and Twitter
Whaaaaaaaaaaaaat? That's rediculous. Damn. I wish I had something constructive to say.... but damn. Awesome.
hey great sketchbook. Your stuff from imagination is awesome. Great job on paying attention to the background .. i personally think it's really important esp when transitioning into painting. It's great to see you're getting back into the figure .. somethings aren't clear to me on the first figure like the neck area and her right arm (the weight bearing arm) - the deltoid/tricep area is not really worked out just seems like you put big curve in there..same for her back... but again maybe that's what you saw or it was done quickly. And I'm sure you're aware of all that without me. the 3rd one is great!! Anyways i really enjoyed your sketchbook .. good stuff... keep going!!
kick ass sketchbook! keep it up!
Life is a long lesson in humility.
You seriously kick ass.
Dude, don't apologize. That shit is moneh! Love the shading (again). And the mask is perfect for what the character is. Good job on this one.
Great shading on those life drawings! man, I wish I could sketch like that. Keep it coming.
lens flare renaissance
I honestly got to say those are some of the best life drawings I seen lately.
great stuff as usual!
Love the contrasts in the latest duder too.
Woah, haven't dropped by in a while.
Crazy awesome stuff lately. The only crit I can muster is that in the first life drawing her arm looks a tad short.
Keep up the crazy work man!
last one is fun, intelligent design decisions. He seems just a tadbit stiff (not one to talk I am ), and with those muscles I don't picture him as the type of guy to surrender, but that's not a big issue. Like the lively precision of it all. Detailed but not dead - that's something you're doing better with each update.
keep it up monsieur!
Geez dude! all the stuff in here is nuts! Amazing work as youve probably heard loads of times =] Thanks for posting tons too.
these beats are so fresh
The last one's nice, good distribution of shapes, especialy for a quick sketch.
Maybe Whitaker (what was his name?) was right, huh?
someone sure likes to render!!! more linework please. rendering is the easy mindless part. spend a little more time on the actual shapes, gestures, and nuances, and you will find yourself with much more interesting stuff to render. your stuff is good and shows alot of promise, just dont get so caught up on the fun part...you gotta eat those vegetables to grow up big and strong! -c36
