Read this opinion (Date: 09/14/06) for serious arguments:
After reading this article I know what to do. Thank you Dave for ending my internal struggle.
I finally found my freedom ...
BUT WAIT !
To keep the discussion alive I think it`s useful to get more specific infos about Dave`s first reason
(quote: "The Intuos offers 1,024 levels of pressure sensitivity, compared with the Graphire's 512.
Maybe you'll notice this in actual use; maybe you won't." ; see link above).
We need opinions from artists who worked with BOTH of the tablets
and so can give us valuable information.
Hope this thread will make descisions easier.
Sooo, the conclusion is that the more expensive model is a bit better than the cheaper one?

Yeah, seriously it is. I've owned both, and the intuos take my breathe away. I had wondered where it had been all my life -
Yeah, I can flirt better with my new Intuos. I love it!
Seriously, of course the Intuos is better. That's why it's called hi-end compared to Graphire's amateur status. It's not just the pressure sensivity. The Intuos is more robust, it looks better and the pen is worth a world more regarding construction and handling.
If it's worth the doubled price, well that's everyone's personal decision. For me, it's worth 400 bucks, because a cold shiver of libidous anticipation overcomes me when I sit down in my armchair and put my hands on the smooth surface of this piece of erotic technology.

How about learning to read?
How about learning to count (at least until ... eh ... one)?
When you are not artists having experience with the two tablets,
how about providing some useful arguments or informations
instead of spamming other peoples threads?
@ Mr Visions
Thanx for your thrilled replys.
the title of your thread says it all. Neverending.
this topic has been beaten to death and discussed in endless detail many times. There was even a summary post made up by Interceptor about this.
Don't come in as a brand new poster and act all snotty about the replies you're getting. Look around and see what has already been discussed first.
I read the comparison article you posted and it is informative, but hardly new.
edited to add: look in the Lounge stickies to see the post on tablets.
AMAZING! You've found that the intuos is SUPERIOR to the graphire!
Are you going to blow my mind by telling me that the cintiq is SUPERIOR to the intuos?
I really couldn't figure it out on my own! Thank you!
I am shrilling with anticipation to see what comes next!

sweet! man I've been wanted to upgrade my POS graphire for some time now, but bills have come first and I don't like the idea of a huge tablet when I don't really use that much space when I create. finally an affordable solution. thanks for posting. as far as the rest of the thread, there is no discussion. the graphire obviously doesn't compare to the intuos, just look at the quality of my work.

Sketchbook:: //// A thread of evolution ////
Uh, John, I would chill out just a bit, especially when your new (don't wanna burn bridges right). Their light sarcasm is only because this subject does pop up frequently on the boards, with the same discussions and conclusions drawn (take it as a grain of salt). In fact, Interceptor started this thread, http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=73139 which is at the top of the Lounge page. Check it out, it might give you some more opinions. Peace -
How about stop being an ass? Do what the Mr.Visions said and have a look at the Tablet sticky at the top of the forums.Originally Posted by John Vex

Maybe you`re right - perhaps I shouldn`t have reacted that harsh. But regarding my
start of the thread I don`t understand why I have to face arrogant reactions
just because of narrowing something down to an emphasis to push a
discussion. I don`t want to undermine Int.`s status at CA-Forums as the
master of tablet-discussion and I really don`t want to compete with
anybody. The end of the longest line is and has always been my graceland.
If you tell me your secret how to reach such exquisite metaphoric expertise
and creativity that lets you just play around with AMAZING expressions
like e.g. "blow my mind" I`ll give you the address of a surgeon who is
spezialising in removing debris (without any pain). He surely can help you
with that head in your mouth.
How about forming an own opinion?
... and now to something completely different:
This thread is meant to discuss the SPECIFIC comparison between the
Graphire and Intuos series (look at the title of the thread), because lot of
people looking for a tablet sooner or later end up in the decision process
between these two series.
I`d like to address everybody who has personal experiences with BOTH tablets
to focus on aspects like usability, feeling, precision and workflow issues more
than repeating the different tech specs, which everybody can read at
wacom.com (and of course in Int.'s sticky, which I read BEFORE starting this
thread). Dave`s article (see/read link at start of thread) is a real good
starting point for that, because unlike the common nonspecific overview you
get from a bunch of posts the linked article gives you information in a clearly
structured manner. And it´s written by a pro artist with years of experience in
The article was also posted to provide a useful wellstructured summary which
CONCENTRATES ON GRAPHIRE / INTUOS COMPARISON, so you don't have to
wade through lots of posts dealing with less specific aspects. Furthermore
cursory statements like "is superior to" or "is better than" etc aren't
convincing because the reasons are often missing.
This article plus reviews from you CA-Artists outthere could be really helpful
and I think the main reason for "relaunching" Graph. VS Int.-Topic so
frequently is the lack of personal reviews by people who really worked with
both tablets. And I think this CONCRETE EMPHASIS topic is worth a new
If you need complete, concrete and valuable info about SPECIFIC differences
between Graphire and Intuos the choice you have is to research between
dozens of somehow informative but often unspecific posts or just read Dave's
article and save time.
Such a smart chap, eh?
Listen and listen well, there's a sticky right on top the lounge for tablet discussions, I have no idea why you want to do a separate and extremely redundant thread.
Now how about post artwork instead of looking for debate on a 'neverending' argument like you previously stated.
Run along and stop being a verbose asshole.

John, don't get so caught up on tablets. After reading the mini-essay you wrote on the point of this thread, I think "Who cares?" at the idead of such in-depth commentary on each tablet. Obviously, as stated, Intuos is choice among artist. Im not sure if anyone wants to sit down and write a paper on how the Intuos is better when they can just point to the features list. And it has been discussed many times before, how about learning to do a forum search? Go draw somthing, use whatever tablet you have, and post it.

I understand your reason behind starting the thread, but on this site I don't think there are a lot of us that use the graphire. I knew about both when I was looking and searched the site too. I kinda figured it was like this: do I want the diesel f-350 longbed with the quadcab or the f150 with a 6 foot bed and only 2 doors? I got the intuos3 6x8 and I love it. Would love a cintiq but that'll come later when I think I could put it to good use.
I guess you could buy both locally and try them out, and take back whichever isn't for you if it's that important. You might want to take a second and look at how you're coming off to the forum, this place is usually pretty tranquil. You shouldn't get so worked up over wisecracks.
The guys you are barking at would have probably given you some really helpful critiques of your art.
