DreamBlade Miniature AD art...

Hello,

Seems most projects that I get involved in take awhile to see print or released. Finally, Wizards published a set of artwork that I created for them. Here are 4 images that were used as advertisment art for their miniature game called 'DreamBlade'. During the creation of this art, I did enlist the help of my good friends at Massive Black.

This assignment needed to be a mixture of photos, photo manips, and traditional illustrations all rolled up into one big giant ball. While I realize this is not necessarily conceptual art material, figured that some people will be interested in seeing some new work from me that is commercial related. I've also updated my site with some more images from this project and others.

All the pieces come together seemlessly and actually wraps around on the opened side edges as well.

These look great Jason. I did concept designs for a couple of dozen creatures in the base set and first expansion, a few of which you have re-interpreted here in your pieces, and they look great.

Incidentally, I just saw a scan of the piece you did for Baxar's War on a poster on Ebay, so maybe you could add it in here to show us all?

Best,
-D.

Coro! Thanks dood... guess it apparent that texturing was the best part of this gig. Overall, it was a good project to work on and it's been a big learning curve to do advertisement work.

Daniel---> Thank you!

Slowflo---> Ah not shit...thats cool that you were a part of the game. Did you see Aleksi's amazing promotional art?

And that is good to know that the Baxar's War piece was released finally. Had no idea. Yeah, let me find a verison to post. In the meantime, here is another ad that I did. Same in concept, but a little different. It's suppost to be a 4 page spread.

I thought these were really cool, and they still looked good like HUGE at the DreamBlade release at GenCon. The third ones mouth area
looks a bit off to me but that might be a preference thing Overall superb work, thanx for posting~*

Finally you can post it !

Seriously, most of the time I think that photo-manip + illustration = danger. That was a tricky assignment you got. But you managed to do something really strong from it.

And you're still my prefered color master !

luv u !

Great Work. Everything seems to have blended together very well.In the third piece, the person looks like a 3D rendering? Is that a real person or a 3D rendering

The only thing that bugged me- or that I thought would look better different, is the lighting on the faces... Not sure what the AD wanted, but I think it would help integrate the photos if the lighting came from above (Where the lighitng explodes from their melons )

Very cool though, and yes, they do look better next to eachother I must admit.

I sure did, great wasn't it? I'm still hoping he'll post some more, always a great inspiration.

I really like the new image you posted too, hopefully it will intrigue people into checking out the game. ( then maybe I can get some more concept work )

Living Rope---> Color master? Really? All I am responding to, for color, is what nature presents to me. Just love running around and seeing what nature can inspire me with. And I luv U 2.

Slowflo---> I did find that image you were talking about, but failed to dig up the original file. The final image is on a archived DVD somewhere, so it's just a matter of time before I find it. Until then, I am going to post a crappy picture of the poster image.

cognition.sb---> Thanks dood!
Zeichentier---> That's cool. Actually that piece I fought with the most. Something about the effects, then the facial expression, and the colors.... just a big battle everytime I look at that one.
cannibalcandy---> BTW folks, Z here is a great concept artist. Really nice skills and can render like a mother fucker. Oh, Z, I think everything is now in print.
Asoir---> Thanks for your thoughts and a valid point. Every piece that I complete feels incomplete to me. Always something I could have done better, but guess thats the best part... learning from my past mistakes.
Lone Wolf---> That's a person. But I can see where you think it might be 3d.
Justin Oaksford---> That's spot on man, I totally agree with you. It would unify the pieces more.
