i play Guildwars atm both factions and Prophecies, but its its getting kinda repetitive, ive got all my char slots filled with PVE chars [ PVP doesnt apeal to me much ] all of em Lvl20, all finished both games and im at a loss of things to do, ive done UW many times, same with FoW and untill nightfall is released im kinda stuck on things to do.
So what im wondering is what other MMORPG's do you all play/recommend?
i dont mind paying any subscription fees on anything
[ But dont get me wrong GW is a brilliant game, and after seeing all the art that goes with it its better , i think ive just played it to death and im kinda lookin for summat a bit fresher. ]
EDIT TOO: my bad, i didnt see the gaming section >_< IDIOT >_<! sorry
well, the obvious reccomendation is World of Warcraft. Very easy to get into and progress in, not as much of a timesink as people claim, but it is addictive. Also with an expansion due out this fall there will be a slew of new players eager to experience the game.
Aside from that there's not much on the market right now. WoW and Guild Wars basically dominate the market. City of Heroes/Villains is fun but repetitive, and I found it difficult to advance in the game.
yeah ive been looking at WoW and FFXI cant quite make my mind up tho, ive also hears EQ2 is good but i havent seen anything about it.
thanks for the reply
WoW is easy to get into. You could solo all you want.
FFXI is balls-breakingly hard, frustrating, and is very heavy on teamwork. But when you beat your first Burning Circle match with a perfectly set skillchain and magic burst, it feels very rewarding.
FFXI is terrible, EQ2 looks like it was made using Poser and Bryce 4
WoW is the way to go.
lol yeah i just looked at EQ2 and it looks PANTS!.
the only thing i dislike about WoW is its a tad cartoony.
I really love the style they gave to the game, it's very fitting for the type of world they're creating. No two zones in the game look alike, I found myself constantly inspired by the breadth of different things I could see and experience in the game.Originally Posted by Malignant2k6lol yeah i just looked at EQ2 and it looks PANTS!.

That being said, it's certainly not going to be a high fantasy type of game, for that I would wait for Vanguard.
I'm interning at a company that is working on a new MMORPG that's shaping up really nicely, I think. It's called "Hero's Journey." Check it out. Release date sometime 07... Summer, maybe? Check out Play.net for more details.
WoW seems to be lacking in visuals for me.
Its alright, the cartooniness is unique, but it could look better.
All the classes wind up looking the same when they all wear a colorful armor thing with big shoulderpads. Every class has the same silhoette
Doesn't look as good as actual good Blizzard art (like by Samwise). mediocre rendering of what were good concepts. Felt that way about Guildwars too.
I liked FFXI 'cause it looked as good as it could be, as good as the art. Though just looking at screenshots/videos and owning the artbook is enough to experience that.
But FFXI really is hard, very hard, and time consuming. It's safer to go with WoW. ]
By the way, do the GW expansions make the game really any different? I have the original GW, stopped playing it when I realised my character's never going to look as cool as those Skeleton Ranger enemies. The gameplay was good though.
All the expansions for GW are stand alone, so you can play them on their own without the original. But adding them to ur account gives ur characters access to another entire continent, new armors, and 2 new proffesions. Factions is a pretty strange game seeing as u ussualy hit level 18-20 by the time uve done the 2nd mission . but that could be due to the fact the game has a massive PvP element to it.
adding it to your account also gives you extra character slots ane if you create a character in factions you can take it over to prophecies and play there too.
Wow has like 6 million subscribers at this point, so if you haven't tried WoW yet...it's worth a shot. It definitely has some irritability in the end game (if you dont have the time to raid), but overall the 1-60 is incredibly good.
I've been playing WoW on and off since launch....and I only take breaks to save myself from totally addiction. Personally, even though I found the graphics of GW to be better, I found the gameplay of WoW to be far superior. Just less frustrating. But that is also because I am mostly a soloer (and sometimes duoer) and GW is very very much a "multiplayer" heavy game. It's not a bad thing, just not for me.
GW is free, though, and that is always nice.

Why do you play MMOs if you're a soloer?
Because it's a fun game. I enjoy having a game that I can build a character and interact with other people when I choose, but let's be realistic....MMORPGs tend to attract a lot of kids that frankly aren't very fun to play with (visit the WoW forums and you get the idea really fast).Originally Posted by KvickWhy do you play MMOs if you're a soloer?
I mostly like MMOs, though, because I like a game that I can play with my wife.
Well I guess WoW is the most obvious choice. I instantly fell in love with the visual style and general techincal aspects of it. Some say the graphics are outdated but for me it's pure eye candy - all the animations are so damn fluid I just like looking at them haha.
There's a wicked expansion coming out soon too
I played this for ages... had loads of fun - maybe not the best imaginable player community though. Costs nothing.
counts as quite hardcore in my records - it's free and visually quite impressive from time to time. Free aswell.
tested the beta with some mates, was 'ok'. Nothing too fancy in my opinion. Not sure if it's free anymore.
that's just a handful... there's a world of mmo:s out there.
