It's been a while since I've painted a girl in armor so here's an hour and a half or so worth of work. Might as well also re-post the enviro from the last post on the previous page.
It's really interesting to have the graphite and PS drawings of the same model. Your PS studies are looking better and better. Her face and skin tones are showing real progress.
Indeed the life drawings are starting to look real nice.
Hey Wes! I'm liking your life paints, they are starting to look pretty darn solid! With speed paints, try playing around with overlay layers to give you some hue shifts. This should help you achieve a better feel of depth.
Anyway, great updates, awesome to see you post so much! (I need to increase my update speed too haha)
Woah major replies!
EtherRain - Thanks! trying to make texture brushes as I go
grafguy, somedai, Hyptosis, algenpfleger, Lakka - thanks!
rayk - Thanks, I'll try that~
Sorry for the lack of updates, been really busy with final projects. Here's a speedy that I don't like that much. Been low on inspiration and energy lately
Cool sculpt! The life drawings are coming along nicely. The speed paints are cool too. They could use some edge refinement - I like unrefined edges but they need to be contrasted with some sharp edges to help the eye settle. Nice work - best of luck!
Went through your sketchbook from page one, and all i gotta say is WOW!
Keep it up man!

My website: coming soon
Hey Wes! That's a very nice sculpt, much better then the last one you did ! Your life drawing is getting much better too, though I think you need to push the value scale a little more (I'm not sure if the photo is averaging out some of the values - some of my life drawing don't turn out too well on camera).
In terms of painting, I think right now you need to do some longer studies from life or good photo as the ones from your mind are looking better.
jdeegz - thanks!
MarkWinters thanks - I'll work on my edge variation
pagedown - thanks for the encouragement
rayk - thanks - those photos don't get half of the values I had in there :/ Long studies coming right up!
Here's a 1 hour self portrait from photo~
Nice self portrait
those life drawings are excellent man! the car looks nice too!
watch your edges! edges do soooo much for a painting, learn how to tighten them up, and then when you can do that, try to learn about soft edges and hard edges and how to use them proporly.
shit, every time I turn around this stuffs better. Life paintings looking really good. I'd say from where you're at now, you probably need to start using bigger brushes, as the smaller messy marks make the form not read very well. Also saves some time. Car is sweet, though wheels are a bit messy. Heh, guess I'll just keep going with the crits. On your enviros, mess around with atmospheric perspective, i.e. stuff far away has less contrast, mid has a bit more, and close is very contrasty. Also, never use straight black. Black does not equal contrast, but screws your color harmony and values. Also mess around with saturation to create distance. But seriously, drawings looking pretty good.
