Could be cool, if its animated. If its not I fear for us all.
From the front page of blizzard's page where you probably got that press release. ;\Live-Action Warcraft Movie Coming to Big Screen
Live-action means... err... live-action. With real people.
They've already fucked most of the big comic books for movies, now they're quickly spreading into games.

Funnily enough, Uwe Boll has said that he will not make any more movies after Farcry, which is the last movie he could get into production before the german tax loop hole closed. Coincidence... ?Originally Posted by Undertow

"Astronomy offers an aesthetic indulgence not duplicated in any other field. This is not an academic or hypothetical attraction and should require no apologies, for the beauty to be found in the skies has been universally appreciated for unrecorded centuries."
If Blizzard's game development cycle is any indication.....I believe they will be intensely anal about the look, feel and final cut of the movie. If this turns out well....we may have Starcraft: The Movie. (and we can scrap that vapourware called Ghost and speed up Starcraft2's release)
There are 3 sides to every story. Yours, mine and THE TRUTH.
"Legendary Pictures' first film was Batman Begins, directed by Chris Nolan. Future releases include Superman Returns, directed by Bryan Singer, M. Night Shymalan's Lady in the Water, and Roland Emmerich's 10,000 B.C."
I loved Batman Begins, if they can keep that same quality, it'd be great!
Was about to say, one of the major problems with most game movies is that the studios holding the IPs usually don't..care too much what happens to the license, they tend not to be super involved. Whereas we all know Blizzard is a master at babying its IP's at every step of development, so I think we can have a little faith they'll be behind this, making sure the director doesn't change it from a noir-ish detective story with undertones of a dead god to a summer action flick with lots of boobs and demon gunning...if you know what I mean.
If these guys have half a clue they will bring in an enormous amount of new talent, save the $$$ on the cast and rock it out in post production.
I think the problem with this genre is that the people from WB and Legendary are looking at the recent LOTR succes and are saying to themselves "well sure, we can do that too!" WoW's base storyline is pretty much run of the mill standard morpg fodder, nothing to get fired up about but gives ya a clue as to the base relationships between the character groups.
So what are they going to do? They are going to get a couple of writers together, heck maybe even with some Blizz input and throw a screenplay together with some standar warlock against paladin etc fight sequences.
It's so problematic because we have been spoiled, we were given LOTR with such a depth of content, acting and production that much else put infront of us is going to be considered microwaved left overs from the creative fridge. They quote as saying it is such "fertile material" but really it is just an established franchise that gives some security to the massive financial undertaking of making this film.
I think they are really up against the wall on this one.
