Some 10 minute sketches in OC.
Some 10 minute sketches in OC.
Asoir- Thank you very much
Andy- Thats what these next few posts are
Just more 10 minute sketches that may or may not look bad. Trying to get in the habit of drawing more often and things besides just studies.
Thanks blue, I think im just gonna leave it dead tho.
Sketches trying to warm up and try to figure something to do for the blizzard contest.
damn you suck kid!..
I hate you.. haha naw just kidding, love the OC sketches, you're going to go far.
Keep us updated!
Thank you tiger.
Here is some sketches in pen from school ...
I dunno mattgamer, ive tried shading in curves before, comes out looking weirdish, but im prolly just not able to pull it off. Thanks for stoppin bys.
I spit hot fiyah. You want some of this hot fiyah?
Wow, very cool style. I really like you lineart here, especially some of the more minima stuff.
One thing I noticed is that one a few pics you leave some areas a bit too vague. Leaving things to the imagination is good, but I feel that some spots on your pics take that philosophy a bit too far. Just a few lines of detail would help clarify some of the emptier regions.
I like the hot fiyah a lot. Especially above its teeth. That shading is really great.
Sunglasses Jesus is pretty cool too, but his nose is a little off. It needs more shape and mass to it and the nostrils look sorta wonky from this angle.
Dfacto- Yah youre right, sort of ashamed now that I look over it, grr
Goo- Yah, I still got huge problems with drawing people without ref.
Matt- Thanks, hehe, i'll be doing some more studies reel soon.
Here's about 8 hours of work for td
Thanks mortem ^^
Sorry sorry to update with the same pic, ill have some new goodies real soon.
Blue-Ugh, theres just so much wrong with that image
One ref, one not so ref.
Looking good lk, you're going to kick so much ass, pretty soon.
One thing, set some time aside to do x number of master copies every day, so you get some more mileage, that should help you in the long run.
DON'T CLICK THIS
and lose the heavy outlines
if you are thinking in posive and negative space.. don't fill it in make the space talk!
To see the world in a grain of sand, and a heaven in a wildflower, hold infinity in the palm of your hand, and eternity in an hour.
Can't believe I've missed your work for so long! Maybe you shouldn't keep so many sketchbooks, youre gonna make kiddies think you woke up one day with all these skills!
Love (envy?) all the dedication and hard work! Looks like you're having fun and thats good. Don't worry so much about focus, you've got lots of time ahead of you. Though you should practice sticking through with pieces longer, do some more full renders and/or illustrations.
You've built a great style, but at times comes across as a cover up for shortcomings. Try deviating from it if for no other reason than to prove that you can. Don't wanna pigeonhole yourself while you're this young (or at all for that matter)
on the latest girl from ref (the one i saw on irc) it looks like you lost interest past the face, the hands and breasts look unrefined and unfinished alongside the beautifully treated face. Looks like you like drawing/rendering faces more than the rest of the body (like me) which may end up distracting your process. Try working opposite, doing the face last so you refine everything else before the areas you are best at. The second girl has some issues with facial proportion, try to pay more attention to the skull underneath!
Keep posting funnyman!
oh man, haha - i ddont know but the way you hatch these makes them come out as some of the cutest funniest little sketches i've seen in a long while
lke the colours in your paints too.

blanqish-Thanks, I still got a load of issues with my shading.
SGS- Thanks for the crits, I really try not to stick to any style, but just ends up coming out like that anyway. I agree that its not helping with my shortcomings and that I avoid issues too much. The point in the portrait was to just study the face, but I still rushed it a bit on the body and hair I suppose. I'll try and work on all the stuff you mentioned.
chaos- A habit im trying to break, just been doing it wrong too long. Thanks.
evil- Thanks, will do chief.
Whew, a buncha stuff to reply to, had to rush the update a bit. Lately I haven't been doing studies much, especially not ones that I was actually satisfied with. Here are just a couple crappers from my school sketchbook, with studies coming in shortly.
this last guy is really cool, nice head shape.
Wanna see more,
I actually really like your style of crosshatching. I'd say stick with it. (Unless, of course you want to broaden your styles.) But, I think it really works for what you're drawing. In that eyeball head guy sketch, you've really got your values down well. I'm liking the bold outlines too.
I would start making the jump away from pencils now. I regret not getting into other media when I was your age. (Of course, I didn't know what a compy was until I was 19) But you should try digitally painting one of these, or even try traditional paints. I think you've nearly mastered pencils, and you're showing some great skill in the wolf and rider painting. Take that to the next level. DO EET!!!!
