Hi Everyone. I have been lurking about for sometime, reading and getting back into drawing. More importantly I am the director for an arts organization that does outreach to community locations at libraries, schools, etc. I am going to be starting a class on sequential art, since I have been getting phone calls and emails from kids asking for a "cartooning class", I know that will eisener is the god father of sequential art and I plan on basing my approach from his book, BUT I also want to give these kids as many viewpoints as I can.
It's a 6 session class that runs for an hour each session.
So my questions to all of you very talented and knowledgable people is this - What texts would you recommend I become familiar with before the class?
I would like to suggest some reading for these kids that they can do research on while not in class. What would you suggest?
I'm trying to cram as much as I can into 6 weeks, but do not want to overwhelm them. Is it possible?
Thank you ahead of time for your ideas, comments, thoughts and suggestions!
