Sweet stuff you have here! Good line work and hatching. I really like your style, great imagination! I want to see more, so please keep posting And I love your avatar by the way
Time to dig this one up. Sheesh, over 1 year old.
No long boring excuses this time though, just posting some sketches to get going again and pick up where I left.
In a somewhat chronological order, from the older to the newest;
I love your shading, and the weird concepts
Still a small point of critique, proportion and underlying form. Sometimes your basic construction is off, and no amount of rendering can save that. Do your studies
Wow nice update!
Keep more stuff, cheers
Duq - Fankoo. And yeah, I know, I suck at doing my homework. Bit too often I'm trying to smooth it over with mindless rendering. But shhh...
I'll try to get my ass together and study study study. So you can put away the whip. For now. :3
Dreamworker - Cheers! Thanks for stopping by again.
RandAlThor - Thank you, will do my best.
humanNature6115 - Thanks =)
EKOes - I'll try to keep your eye on the thread as often as I can then.
Anyway, forgot to add 2 sketches in the batch yesterday, just a quick study from life and some mindless doodles again.
Time to move on from here.
Never tried to colour in photoshop, as I'm a complete noob when it comes to that program. Or even coloring. And environments moreso. But, it's about time to start practicing, so here's my first coloured enviro of hopefully many more to come;
(thanks to duq for a few hints and for making me add superman ;>)

yay digital studies
The grass could still use more sat I think, or maybe warmer. Oh well, keep doing more ^^
Love your style in your pencil sketches! Those policemen really stand out for me. Your colour enviro does need more work, but if you can get it to the standard of your little sketch enviroments you'll be laughing. Good work man, looking forward to more posting!
donalfall - Thank you. =)
Lots of work this week to save up for my trip to Peru in May, so I can only give you crappy doodles, mostly done on copy paper at coffee breaks at work, and between running my ass off to social appointments. The week's highlight though was that I got a nice pen from a friend, never really drew with a softer one. Funfun.
Managed to squeeze in some really quick anatomy studies too, ranging from 2-5 min. Was actually fun, even though at the end the beer started talking a bit too much.
Get out of 4chan. its bad for your mental well-being.
heda - before you even mentioned 4chan, I had never heard of it. But thanks for the useful insight.
Anyway, updating with some 1-2 month old stuff before throwing up my doodles from the Hellmouth sketchmeet.
-First 3; some mindless doodles (I'm seeing a pattern here ;P ), the middle one being a silly inside joke
-A sketch done with a permanent marker during insomnia
-And my second quick digital environment sketch
And the stuff from Hellmouth sketchmeet:
- Random doodles, crappy anatomy and enviros
- The two images before the life drawing being those for the Thunderdome with the topic "Spice"
- Lifedrawing, 2 min and one 30 min
- And lastly the start of a small silly story for my own enjoyment.
Sorry for the so-so scans. Hope you enjoy them anyway!
C&C as always welcome!
Tjena! Was fun hanging with you in holland! Cool sketchbook, i got to see much of it live in helmond. Now keep it coming, draw MOAR!
Flaskpost - Thanks! I'm trying ;>
MeTaL-Mike - Hey thanks! And thank you again for organizing the event, was awesome
Slash - Hej! Hehe, right back atcha! We should bring our axes next time though, for sure.
Barely been around the last 6 weeks, and stressing around a bit with uni and moving atm, so I've been piling up on some sketches. Here's the first batch.
First five; Watercolours and inks done during a car trip to France. Even though the ride was rather bumpy at times, it was great to have many hours to try out watercolour and see how it works. These sketches are a few ideas for a personal project I'm "developing", or well, just having fun with.
Last four: It was due time to start with some proper gesture and anatomy studying, have been neglecting it for far too long. I think during the past 2 years where I've been drawing on and off I've only have enough serious studies to count on my toes and fingers, not more. That's being proper lazy...
Last pic: And a small collection of a bit more ugly gestures
About the posemaniac stuff: You seem to get the flow right of the gesture, but the depth and proportions are lacking. Take some time for them, or just go in non-timed mode, and get those things right. In the end its not knowing that there is a body, but knowing where it is in space. You have the idea with the Bunnylemur of doom, try to cross over those simple shapes and line confidence to everything.
The clothed ones: They are really nice, and you get all the details right. But they still feel very flat. Try to read the underlying shapes more, and understand what exactly the cloth is hanging on, and what defines it.
Anyway, nice update! Now do more
Great sketches! Love them all especially Jimmy!
Duq - Will work on it, although my intention with the clothed gestures was more to get it to look correct with proportions even with the use of clothes. Just to get a feeling of it. But I agree with the flatness and confidence. Can only get better, I hope. Otherwise, stop being lazy yourself and get to doing gestures! Or at least update, bastard.
m.j. - Thank you!
Moleskine pages done during the last month, various ideas for another personal project and as well just some doodles. Newest sketches at the bottom of the post.
First four: The doodles I started with to get the feel for the paper, really never sketched on anything as smooth before. It was awesome to get the rendering and values you wanted with ease. Or well, easier than on other kinds of paper, heh.
Last six: And the more "serious" sketches, developing a few ideas and playing around with them, seeing how they could work as concepts, if I ever decide to make a finished piece out of one, or more, of them. Which I hopefully will some day, once I get more comfortable with drawing digitally. Just hoping it won't be in a too distant future, would really love to start developing the ideas (project?) more thoroughly and create something of it.
C&C very welcome! Cheers!
Already told you before, I really like these. Its an amazing world that you are showing here.
I can go and crit all the basics, but we both know what and where they are. You have the ideas and are showing them, thats what matters. Keep it up
ps: the squid creatures are the best
Duq - Thanks tosser
Continuing playing around with the digital medium.
The 3rd and 4th digital environments, 1,5h
The water is fecked up on the first one, but lost patience and left it.
Another sketch for a project (the same as that last moleskine page), seeing how more warm colours would work
Some very nice and inspirational stuff here. I love the sketches and the digi stuff is not bad, just needs more work. I love the way you do clouds and skies, it is really a treat to look at.
The only thing I wanna say is do more, because the quantity of your work is what is lacking. So work more and keep it up^^
enjoyed your pencil sketches greatly, a joy to watch with plenty ideas exploration, creatures and fantasy environment! nice sketches with ink too, with plenty of yummy quick gestures
