Ling---- you could give us the quick version?.....
these are sketches..a way of comunicating ideas.......
The problem is that It's 00:15 (not to sure how PM and AM work after 00:00)and I'm going to work 07:00 and I kinda thought it would be a good idea to get some sleep till then and then I'm going away this weekend, (even got a new sketchbook an' al)
However, since you asked, I'm feeling really motivated. So maybe.. will see.
Oo.. I like that one, great job Ling, especially considering you were short on time.
quick sketch, like 20-25 min in photoshop, now back to homework
"The poorly drawn, lego/lilliputian pirates had no idea concerning the purpose or meaning of the 'iron olives' they found in craters on an uncharted desert island (on a sea that looks suspisiciously like flames.) But they'd be damned if they didn't float well enough."
Just playing around to see how fast I could render something really simple...need to practice my PS/tablet skills...a lot. Took me about 30 minutes. Ahehehe.
Btw, Mort, think the whaley design looks really cool. Really dig Ling's, too, really poppin' out the standard foreshortened ship perspective somethin' neat.
Thanks Demiurgic the sketching took about 2-4 min, then I thought, Hmm maybe I should ad some thrust action in the back (no pun intended), and ended up playing around with different settings/layer modes.
CheshireLyon not bad for a quicky
And Mort, really like the sea theme your working with, nice colors, I't kinda looks like the pods are in some kind of green goo and I imagine them shooting out of there and goo flying al over the place, cool
Very nice Snuggles, that sure brought smile to my face, just what I needed, thanks

Haha really funny Snuggles! Made me laugh if you are not offended by that..
Lingmerth good as always!
I'm glad you enjoyed it, hehe. I don't think my drawing has much purpose outside of being a corny little joke anywho.
Thanks Kei-th, Always makes me glad when people comment.
Sure would be nice to see your take on this
"good as always!" Am I building some kind of reputation here? I wish
And you sure succeed in doing that Snuggles...
hehe didnt notice that.Originally Posted by Legatogot a little sperm and egg thing going on there huh mort?
thanks LIngmerth. i kinda got stuck on the aquarium theme from last time.
yours is very clean and functional. amazing stuff at that time you used.
SNuggles : hehe, nice idea with a sea vessel instead of a space ship.

One note everybody, going away now, I'll be back on sunday. so don't expect any replies from me any time soon
conclusion..I totally suck at tech
can't do straight lines, cant do shiny....cant think up new gadgits and gizmos...suck
Oh NO! im posting right after goran! Mine is going to look like crap posted just after your great one.
40min in painter. Focussed more on the ship itself than his escape pods...
chaosrocks - you could use a wector graphic program to draw straight lines (for example - Ilustrator ), or you could draw also straight lines in photoshop - only choose line. I'm not an expert, I started to learn wector graphic program maybe 2 weeks ago ;P ,and the main reason for tkaing such program was drawing mecha/ vehicles
Goran, really nice AGAIN! I always like your dark style and it already looks render pritty good. Keep up the good work!
c.rocks - straight lines, that is what rulers are for!!!! or in the digital world use the polygonal lasso tool. - it's not cheating! if you were designing with a pencil you wouldn't think twice about picking up a set square, compass or set of french curves - use the digital equivalents (only just reminded myself to do this)
Shiny things - i have to remind myself - best study some oldschool airbrushed chrome or better still get some reference. Goran's stuff isn't conjured by magic (no offence dude) there is good old fashioned technique and experience in there. Although his use of textures boggles the mind - so effortless.
Aga - Vectors & illustrator - no use for sketching - mainly for logo's and graphic design work. You need to be able to develop forms with a pencil before you start defining them. I will try to practise what i preach but but think of vectors as t-squares, you may be able to make perfect angles but it wont mean a thing if you can't hold a pencil
ilustrator sux...I used freehand for years,,used to do Graphic design for a living..hate the cold ass precision of it, I think Im allergic to rulers...and actually when sketching I would think at least a dozen times before picking up any of those things, but for the work here that garners praise and adulation that sort of precision is nessisary and I will probably cave in eventualy.
thanks for the advice though.. I know it really I do.. I just don't want to..
still fighting the battle of the organic line though,. I think it still has validity, and character... I'm losing nad its all a rationalization for my inherent laziness anyway.....
well, I'm late, I wasn't even sure I felt like drawing today but I gave it a whack anyway. I actually took the begging of an old DSG I never finished and modified it a little to suit the topic. The pods got a little lost though...
They can't get out
edit: sorry - i forgot that the pods were meant to be rounded. well, they still could be. with rectangular doors. i don't suppose it matters anyway
