feeling sick still have had flu for many days - started as an evil sore throat which has morphed into full blown flu, not just man-flu like us men usually have.
so I decided to rummage through my desk and set up my scanner so when i'm feeling better i can do some more regular traditional work and scan it straight off.
here is some stuff kicking about. i plan to do more regular practise though that might just be the lemsip talking.
nice to see you do figure studies. anatomy is definately coming along. but what I like most are your creatures. they show so many different sides and ideas. and your great rendering is topping it off nicely. keep workin.
ta 4 that.
never seems to be enough time to get around to everything i want to, but I think it's more of a case of making the time rather than making excuses, eh?
yeah i feel like my rendering has come a way since i started, i can see some improvement despite some dips etc. on the way, and I even feel more comfy using painter, so i want to go 'back to basics' almost and get more traditional work done.
more studies, and people used to always go on about 'draw more ladies' so maybe i should try that too..
more coming when i shake off this freaking flu virus. its on its way out now the devilish beast.

My Sketch Book
Great sketchbook. Love your creatures; the majority of them feel very "evolved."
Love the image of Yaweh in #251 and the Alien in #270 made me giggle. I enjoy the humor.
Don't really have any crits at the moment, apart from the fact that your human figures' poses could be more natural/fluid.
first of all, i would rate any Sb with a starship troopers bug in it 5stars!
ok, seriously, great sketches, nice progress overall, post more color! hehe.
good monster/creature work aswell.
thank you for the kind words - hectic at my job at the moment so not much 2d art being done in my world.
hopefully changing this week (maybe) and my gf is away for the week so I can get some solid time to crank out some traditional work of some sort if the oppurtunity presents.
i'm in a technical ebb though atm, I go through waves of different interests, and im just coming out of a technical one, so lets hope it leads into a 2d traditional ripcurl of some kind.
else i might just quit and go work in sainsburys.
The flu is not an excuse!! Lol, just kidding. This is an awesome sketchbook. Like everyone else - I love the creatures. I especially love the wreath that ate santa, made me tear up a lil lol. Keep it up man!
I'm only 15 and would like some comments/critiques/tips so CHECK OUT MY SKETCHBOOK! Please =] http://conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=117399
right, about time i got some work done. been very busy lately with one thing or another.
some doodles - I have just got a-hold of a funky app which is helping me 'bend my shapes' or whatever it is the kids say nowadays. its good fun anyways!
youve got so much cool stuff...! dont stop keep it coming!
prog called alchemy - its really cool for bursting out a load of varied shapes quickly! heres an example from the doodles i did earlier of the base shapes i created in alchemy -
sweet approach sounds like a neat program. Love the guy on the bottom right http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v9...0308_1_sml.jpg and the new funky bird...though his head looks like it would be heavy to pack around!
gonna add some color for us? Are you fleshing them out in photoshop or painter?
the way that alchemy prog works it can capture from your doodling periodically, do I have around 30 pages of shapes to graw from, so I'm going to wait for the wellspring to dry before i work any up to color and beyond.
in fact I'm wanting to speed up and be looser, but Its so much fun rendering the little chaps out that I tend to get stuck in bwfore I realised it.
next set will be looser, and hopefully better light.
its all photoshop for these by the way.
hi iolarnula! yeah i have been less busy than i would have liked - very busy at work etc.
still nice to see you!
few more brainfarts.
why did i do them on a white background - why! oh well, just doodles.
wow, awezome stuff, love the thumbnails, what is that aplication ur talking bout, could u give an explaintion of that please, it sounds really interesting
application just lets you create wacky shapes nice and fast, and can automatically save out the page every so often. So it means you can noodle away and end up with a bunch of shapes really fast and easily.
It's similar to what people (andrew jones has one of those downloadable demos about it) use zbrush for, and use other means to achieve similar goals. The goals being chaotic shapes and unlikely arrangements of shapes which break out of your internal 'box' regarding silhouettes and suchlike.
Maybe there are people without an internal box, but I sure have one and if I'm not careful I end up drawing the exact same crap after a while, so this nifty app is a really nice way to isolate creating interesting shapes as a task.
anyway, i'm a sucker for tools and new toys.
here's the raw shapes for a 10 minute session a few days ago (I meant to sketch them all up but so far only done a few from the top row)
it's a nifty program as far as I'm concerned. I better watch it, I'm starting to sound like an evangelist!
very nice imagination
the creatures and the thumbnails looks great!
Very imaginitive design and great attention to detail Keep it up
"Battle not with monsters lest ye become a monster also"
Great Sb I love the monster thingy's, with such nice textures and values.
and thanks for the alchemy prog tip, I'll try it out.
