All I can say so far is WOW. Not really sure if its bad or good at this point. I've got to say this is probably the most drastic of an upgrade for any program I've ever seen.
So much for being 'eased' into it.
I'll report back after some more experimenting.

Ahh, I need to install it. I downloaded the trial ver last night, but I haven't installed it yet. The response seems to be great, as davi was using it for his dsg last night I believe.
I didn't use 7 a whole lot, but I'll sure give 8 a try.
There is a new interface (very cool) but excepting the color mixer, there are absolutly no new features.
And worst than that, they removed the custom palettes, where you can put your most used brushes, papers and even commands. Because of this, this version is totally useless for me.
I switch from one custom brush to another every 5 seconds, I can't imagine to pass thru 2 pulldown menus to do this.
I was so excited, but now I'm glad they put a demo so I dind't actually bought it.
I agree with Grooveholmes.. It is too good for me which has struggling with 7.. I will enjoy of using 8 and maybe improving myself faster than with 7
I actually think it's a huge improvement. They've brought back the old watercolors from 6 as well as kept the new ones.
The old water colors are called digital water colors and seem to behave as they used to, but with the added benefit of being able to use them on layers and use the eyedropper.
The interface is soooooo much nicer. 'Bout time. I really dig the Brush Creater palette.
7 was too much of a puzzle for me, love the new one. i agree on the pulldown menu thing. takes too long to change. there must be some kind of a remedy for that tho, anyone know?
By the way, when you select a brush group, if you right click the mouse button (i.e., button 2 on your wacom stylus), you get a pop-up context menu where you can select all the different brushes in that group.
I'm gonna make a group called "Nick's Brushes" and just put all the ones I use in there and access them using the context menu. It's very quick.
[ EDIT - the idea was suggested to me by Pat ]
