Heh, My monitor can't pick up the darker side of the trench.

I blend in with space.

Anyways nice work.

Hi there,

looks good. I'd like to see this one detailed and finished. Tell me you won't leave it at this stage!

Concerning perspektive, it's mostly correct as far as I can see. It's seems you have drawn all lines towards the vanishing point.
(In this case the vanishing point is appr. two meters in dimeter and about the same size as the womp rats Luke used to shot )

I could imagine this to become a real cool painting.
Add one or to gun turrets (those turbo lasers), maybe one in the trench, the other one on the surface.
Imagine those green lines of energy blasting towards the approaching fighter...

Keep up the good work.

Hm, if you mean, I'll overwork it and refine it. Although it was just meant to be a speedpaint (wello, 90 mins aint THAT quick) i like the values in it. Ill post here when i make progress

okaaaay i made some progress on the pic. I dassed several lasers and Yavin IV moon in the sky. Im just not sure abot the planets colour, because, the blue somehow destroys the red/green harmony. Tell ma what ya think about it

You could always just have the planet in the BG.... it's orange, isn't it?

Anyways, I really don't like how the port s-foils are getting somewhat lost in the trench. I say darken the trench up a bit or add some more detail so the ship is a little more clearly defined.

I love X-Wings! I wonder if the bottom right lasers canon tip should be visible (just a bit). A tip to paint really quick and still have nice line : make some basic vectors shape in PS at start, then don't display the layers, use them only to make a selection. You'll paint as fast and the lines (wich is really important for ship's and architecture) will be perfect. Good work!

maybe it's just me but it looks like the guns on the s-foils to the left are converging on the vanishing point to rapidly. and you couldn't see the moon from the deathstar untill it was in firing range, at which point it was destroyed, it's not a big deal but rabid starwars fans will jump all over you for that. good work though, like where this is headed.

Hi there,

ok, as a die-hard SW-Fan I have to say this:

First of all (as already mentioned above) The fourth moon of Yavin (Yavin IV) would not be visible.
Instead Yavin, the giant red gas ball would in front of Yavon IV or at least covering at least one half of the blue planet (which would be a great oportunity for some cool lens-flare effects if you imagine the blue light of Yavin IV striking along the shape or the stratosphere of Yavin and by doing so enlighting the scene.)
And secondly: The X-Wing squadrons did not return the fire of the turbo laser turrets when they were flying through the trench. So if you wanna stick to the movies you need to change it.

I'd say you could detail the whole thing a little more, the brush strokes are too dominant for my taste - but I'm too bolt now.

Finally I got you a map, where you can figure out the location of the planets relative to the death star.

Hm and i thought I'd be a SW fan
Well, the ship design is awesome, and besides the gay robot thingies, SW is great. I wil detail this more of course, as you seid the brush strokes are too dominant (watch the upper left engine if ye wanna see what im headig for)

Ok, I made some progress on the Xwing. First i deleted the red lasers - thanks to the pink light of the engines I put in, i dont need em to get some reddish values in the painting. Im going to place some more green laser rays and turrets in the trench - also give it some colour etc. Shall i put in some more xwings/one that explodes/tie fighters or something? I mean, I like the clean look of it, im not sure if more fighters would desroy the line of the piece. anyway, here it is

Hi there,

in my opinion more fighters would overdo it. The whole thing would be way too overloaded.

You could paint some dog fighting action in the upper right corner maybe... some TIE chasing a Y-Wing or s.th. ... but thats just an idea.

I'd do the turrets first and then see...
