couple recent paintings...

hey y'all. figured id post a coupla things i have completed recently.
first off i have this painting of the massiveblack 2d team. i did this for the upcoming portrait show at the shooting gallery here in town this thursday. it promises to be a good show. andrew jones, wes burt, carl dobsky, james kei, and myself will all have stuff inthis one, so mb will indeed be mobbin deep this time . so i painted the 2d crew, chopped them up on a table saw and reassembled them. there was something really gratifying about chopping up oil paintings on my table saw.

here are the painting pre-destruction

and a couple of details:

as for who's who, ill try and let you all figure that out for the sake of anonymity.

also, here is a little painting i did of my lil boy as an accompaniment to the painting i did pf my lil girl a coupla months ago:

so thats it. hope you like.-c36

Hell yeah. It reminds me of one of those puzzles with the missing piece that you have to slide around and unscramble the picture.

DUDE! that was the initial plan actually. but with such a short timeline, the task would have proven to be to complicated so i took the easy way out. so funny you said that tho hahaha.

bwkeough: thanks man. some could have been better, but i didnt labor as much as i could have on them, since i was gonna chop em up and all -c36

Did you do these from pics or did you actually get the guys to sit still for you? & how big were each of the little paintings?

Very nice El Coro. My daughter is sitting with me right now and asked who took the picture of the doggie? Nice stuff, love the portraits.

kidcrucial: thanks dude. haha glad she like the doggie. hes a real sweet dog.

Elwell: ok so what i did is i took pics of all of them. then i laid them all out in a 8x12 template in ps. i printed all of them up, then i painted them on 11x14 gessoed hardboards. i made a template to make sure they were all centered and the right size on the boards, then i chopped them into 4 inch squares. i then epoxied them onto a 24x36 hardboard. all in all, it took around 3 weeks to complete it, working late nights and weekends....it was a fun project. i tell ya, you havent lived until you have run a painting through a saw...talk about letting go haha.

vctr: thanks man. yeah all on board. the final weighs like 30 pounds.

Alday.J: thanks you very much sir. you are too kind

james kei: you know i had a hard onthe whole time i was painting you. i had blue balls for days.

Yutani: thanks dude!

KenDeathwalker: yes these are quite thick. i have been painting this way lately. i really like building up volumes like this.

thanks again for the kind words dudez.-c36

Yeah, there's somethiing terrifying yet liberating about destroying a piece of art. Like being naked in public.

Cool Too bad you chopped up that piece of Nox. I liked that one the best. The natural lighting , skintones and soft green BG really made it stand out from the rest I think ( as far as I can tell on those images... )

Always a treat when you decide to post new stuff. Allready looking forward to your new batch.. ( hopefully a batch )

The oil paintings are nice. It really sends some shivers of motivation down my spine to get off my ass and pick up my brushes more often...

You definitely have a great sense of color and the ability to capture the expression and feeling of the subject.

Beautiful work coro. I love the expressions in all of them especially Andrews. He looks a little scared.

Btw, how big is the final puzzle square piece?

I just love your oil paintings coro, especially the little spec highlights. They have such nice texture to them.
Also, whilst Im here, any chance of getting the pics from your sketchbook23 demo hosted on the CA server or something. They always go down on that fortune city server.

It's great how you make all the skin tones so distinct and rich. Wicked brush action, coro. Bet it's sweet in real life.

you...you... you are ... amazing! the detail shots show just what a master you have become with brush and oil. you have sent me packing back to kindergarten with crayons and oatmeal paper.

I love you and your work. I'm all at once flabbergasted and excited to see such talent.

It's a little scary how good this stuff is. At the same time i'm daunted as well as completely inspired. And it must be a lot of fun putting the fruit of your labours on the rack like that.
