I'm a 3D modeller at heart but today I tried my hand at some painting in Photoshop. It still has quite a way to go before it's complete, but that's what WIP threads are for right?
I'll be sure to post some of my 3D work as well before too long.
Let me know what you think.
Welcome to CA, Yembles !
Well, first: Be EXTREMLY carefull with your composition and the values. Think about the fact that you have to put some part of your picture in value. Like a "focus point" to the eye. There's too much elements and filters effects, it's disturbing the whole piece, and I can't see clearly what you wanna do with it. Here the very first crits I can made at the moment. You're in the WIP thread, so I think tou have to push it further, and I'll coming back to see it.
Cheers, man !
Thanks for the warm welcome.
Actually no filters have been used on this image. I used a technique whereby several 'starter scribbles' are drawn and then scanned in, arranged on separate layers on photoshop and played around with. You can then scoot around the window and find shapes that lend themselves to landscapes and use them to produce a final painting.
Most of the marbley blue-green texture will disappear eventually. Here's the first WIP save to show you how it has developed since the beginning.
And here's the image I ripped out of my 'landscape generation composition' which formed the basis of my piece.
