i kinda like those "crap drawings", too.. keep on doing them, your anatomy seems to be not all bad and the first one is a life drawing, right? always good to do those..

concerning those first few.. you have to learn perspective in order to be good at architectural drawings and such.. be sure to learn the basics before moving on..

some stuff I ve done few days ago
had this idea

but did not know what to do with the background so tried some colours, bla out
first attempt

second attempt (I m really cheap when it comes to paper, dont want to spoil any paper when it not nesesary, so doodled on top of this paper know it doesnt fit with the drawing beneath it)

and third attempt (this is when I realise that the background totally didnt fit the drawing, the pose nor the feeling I wanted to expres.. the character isnt frustrated by nature, that free beautiful field.. thats when I thought: crap did all those attempts for nothing! AGR!) but do tell me what you think about it

Keep working--you show a lot of creative potential.. your drawings have an emotional content that is clawing it's way out. Long road to travel but you're young. Check out some of the construction drawing books: hogarth, vilppu, bridgeman. It will help you add dimension to your work (esp. without reference.) keep on. cheers

arrrrgh...no why? Not from photos...draw from real life, that's the best way to learn...real people, real animals, etc...

*hi-jack-mode-on*

You said you were drawing from photos to learn how to draw realistically...i want to suggest that you should draw 10-20 images of one subject (like only faces, only anatomy or only animals -> zoo!) from real life and do the same amount of drawings from photo reference.

You won't need much time, maybe 10-20 minutes on every image...after that show the results friends, family etc and let them judge and judge also for yourself...

I would bet most of your viewers will like the ones with reference from real life better...also you will learn more about light/shadow, form, shapes, anatomy etc...when for example the light conditions change during your drawing session or the reference person moves or the perspective changes etc...

On a side note it's MUCH more fun drawing from real life, it's like watching sports in a stadium...you will experience the same object in a different more intense way compared to watching it on tv...and you can throw popcorn on people and bear the consequences, the question is if this makes much sense when drawing someone

*hi-jack-mode-off*

sorry Sopor+Aeternus for the hijack

yay...glad someone read it at all

The drawing looks very nice so far, but i have a suggestion regardin the composition: the red belt distracts from the focus, though it has not an equally weighted meaning...

maybe weaken the belts intensity a little bit would do the trick, something like this:

check it out, i'm totally digging your art. now, i'm not a very good artist (and i don't have a sketchbook on here, yet, to back up my claims) but I really like your no reference stuff better simply because i feel like you've got an awesome style just waiting to ooze out of you. of course, on a technical note, doing drawings from reference (pictures and life) is an outstanding way to learn, but the style of drawing hyper realistically is (in my opinion) vastly overrated. it takes practice to learn how to draw realistically, but i think it takes style to catch someone's eye. My advice, definitely learn to draw realistically for the sake of personal growth and development, but don't forsake your style, and don't neglect your style (keep drawing from your head). awesome stuff!

great work, your style and you skill is very good for a 17 year old....like Foz said mor from life....if you sketch more from life and learn more about antamoy you will be so much farther ahead of other people when you become a professional interms of a skill and built up visual dictionary, and stop using graph paper what a waste of a good drawing...if you are going to draw in class you might as well use good paper !
