I like the first t-shirt the most in how it's placed on the t-shirt. But it looks like the second one has more depth to it...hard to explain .
Ga je nog een zelfportret maken vandaag? Of heb je het te druk ?
really digging all the design work marleen! your line work also looks more fluid and natural than before, keep working hard! (your school stuff look quite fun! I think i'd rather be in your course haha)
I got myself a pause in my studies (studiestop), and am going to take it slow this year to start the second year of illustration again next year. There's so much I want to do that I didn't have time for.
I recently moved to Utrecht to a nice student room, I started playing the piano again, I started working on my website making skills and just a few days ago I felt the need to draw a little something again, finally..
It's not much yet but there will be more. In one or two weeks I'll be going to my workspace at school again too
First of all; I went to a stopmotion animation workshop yesterday and had some fun. It's not supposed to be good or anything, was just cool to do ^^
Also a few quick drawings:
Well, that's it for now,
I'll be back soon I hope ^^
I love Utrecht. only been there about tree times but its still beautiful. They also have a Swedish cafť. Not that thats important! Nice to see you postin again. Hope you feel more inspired to draw. take care!
@ B-Man; hehe cool! I'll be sure to check out this swedish cafť. And thanks
@ paperX; hiya! Yeah, I'm taking it a little slow though, much to do, and I don't want to force myself to do anything at the moment ^^ but I'm sure the productiveness will return sometime soon.
I've been moving my stuff, packing and unpacking boxes, putting together furniture, all that sort of stuff. Now I'm mostly unpacked in the new room, but I don't have a computer (or printer/scanner thing) yet, so that'll have to happen soon ^^. Next week is very busy for me (meeting some friends and working a few days) but if I have time left I might just squeeze in a bit of drawing, maybe an address change card is a good idea
-small updatesie, just quick things from the head from train rides (and yes, not drawing from ref makes me realize how much I suck at not drawing from reference )
added some colour, not done yet
your typical female face, since that might just be the only thing I can draw from mind (at easy angles)
scribbles on sample pieces of wallpaper
going off to the no-computer place tomorrow, so it might be a while ^^
hey Marleen you have a cool style progressing here
keep it up looking forward to seeing more of your findings
have a good one
till next time
sketchbook updated October 6th
I instantly had an idea for the address change card, a little alice in wonderland thing so I drew a sketch
if anyone feels up to it, a paintover for the arms especially (and legs, and everything else ) would be greatly appreciated ^^
This is all from mind tho, I'll take some reference pictures soon.
I like the address change card, i think anyone who's ever lived in cramped spaces can relate!
I did a little paintover (kind of went to town and wrecked your drawing, more like..)
I think the pose and the body language could be adjusted to get the idea across better. Outstretched arms make it seem more like there's lot of space, this is also empasized by the outstretched neck and straight back. The figure is also very flat, since you see everything straight on, there's no overlap, no action along the z axis.
So what i changed was arching the back a little more, lowering the head to come down in front of the shoulders, thus creating overlap and more sense of 3 dimentions. The lowered head also help show that the roof is low, by using body language. Hand was moved closer to the center of gravity to help support the weight of the head, and pointed forward to get more z axis action going on. Same with her leg, pointed it towards the camera, and pulled it a little up against her body, again to hint at the fact that there's not enough space to stretch her legs out. Same with the bent arm touching the ceiling, it helps sell the claustrophobic feeling, and get some action into the arm, straight arms tend to be boring.
Lastly i'd suggest cropping the composition more from the sides (thats what the red arrows were for ) to further enhance the claustrophobic feel of the image.
I am of course making the assumption that i'm interpreting your idea about living in small conditions right. ^^ Shoot yourself some reference and everything i've mentioned should become clearer. And take what i said with a grain of salt, its just my opinions, not cold hard fact.
Best of luck with the progress!
@ Slash!; hey thanks so much! really gotta work on that one soon.... people need to get my new adress too hihi ^^ Gonna take some ref pictures soon
update some figure drawing and typography stuff for a book I'm making for my mother (title is "vlinderbladeren").bye
Nice SB and many mediums, you're using (sculpting, t-shirts, drawing...) Keep on posting. Very inspirational!
Nice updates with the figures, NoŽ. I'd say focus on the wedging shapes more, as doing so will provide better forms on you drawings. Don't be afraid to just slam shapes in there, use it to see whats going on. The typography work is nice, I've never gotten into it myself, maybe someday.
Wow! Your posemaniacs studies are great! I guess I have to try some short pose drawings, too.
wow, i were browsing through this sketchbook, and wow-i'm impressed.. you did a good job, haha - your life drawings are amazing, maybe you should spend more time in detail?, dunno - but i would love to see one
grate poses , good observation , i think if you try a little bit mixed hot and colors to your drawings should be nice i mean try to give them life with colors.
