hey everyone, jax the model just started a sketchbook. She's new to this community but has been modeling for artists and drawing sessions for awhile. We've bitten her with the drawing bug it seems! So drop her some encouraging words and kindness here:
Damn. Wish I coulda came. Sounds like you had a lot of fun.
Hello! everyone I finaly in.
I am posting my sketches online right now, so check it out everyone.
2nd set of photos. only a few came out okay... and worth viewing after some photoshoping.
BW Film is hard to handle
Kiril took this one I think. THere was another one, but the strap fell across the lens
@ the same cementary... I think...
2nd group shot, I like it.
Partisans statues @ Boston Commons
soooo, im here, in Boston. I'll be here for the next 6 days
any chance of a small meet? Doesn't have to be anything that costs money like the Aquarium, you went to that last time right?
Maybe just a meet in the park or somewhere downtown to sketch.
btw. did you have a model last time?
btw, Hito, I'm getting a 404 at those links
or ok, not a 404 exactly but "page not found" "on this server"
yo skuli, we never ended up going to the aquarium last week, we just drew mimes and horses and stuff, which was all sorts of fun.
I'd be up for more park drawing. Will you still be in town on sunday? I might be able to get into town then.
Or...MAaaayyyybe saturday, but I'm not sure on that yet.
We had a model last time, the day after the meetup while the philly fellas (heh, philly fellas) were still in town, but it wasn't in the city, it was way out at my apartment.
Anyway, whatcha visiting boston for anyway?
My dad lives here so I come here often.
I'll be here the next weekend.
I went down to copley a couple of days ago and sketched people at the fountain. Darn folks must have a 'im being drawn' sensor, stood up and walked away right as I began sketching them

still doesn't work for me
yo skuli, im pretty sure im good for some city sketching on sunday, i -might- be able to make it saturday, but im not sure yet. gimmi a day or so to figure the schedule out, one way or another, we're GONNA draw this weekend!
ill see if any coworkers are interested too.
Anyone else want to come?
that's cool blankslatejoe
gotta ask my dad though but I think that It'll be alright, maybe he'll just come with me or sum
and yeah, Boston folks! someone else has gotta want to come right?
whoa a boston sketchbook group..never thought i'd find one of these
"Don't look into car headlights and freeze, because you'll either get run over or shot!'"
somebody else must want to come?
Next weekend, speak up people!
I'm sorry, I won't be able to join in on any more groups until August 28. -___- Crap.
I hope you guys keep this going, I wanna came back to an awesome sketch group!
And um, I will scan my stuff soon!
*Shoos her rat out of her pencil bag*
Hey guys... guess what? I'm totally game for a sketch group meeting afterall!
I would love to shoot for August 20th, since Red_Rook will be joining us from Switzerland. Otherwise, the 27th could work too.
Anyone interested? Yes? No?
I could try to make it again. I'll set my car up on an IV and make sure it's alive and kicking by the time the 20th rolls around. Either date is fine with me. Maybe I can finally meet everyone this time.
Ok, so some plans came up today that I didn't know about so now I'm not sure I can make it the 20th.
Yo! It looks like this Saturday, the 20th, will be our next meeting!
I'm told that there will be thundershowers that day, so perhaps an indoor sketching area, like the Prudential Mall or the Aquarium (assuming I remember my freakin wallet this time!) would be good leads. The Zoo was also suggested and I'm down, weather permitting.
So far myself, my roommate, Fixx and Red_Rook are confirmed to go. We're thinking 12:00 in front of the monstrous Au Bon Pain, just like last time.
Are you in? Bobo the Seal, Leckronium, Blankslate, Gabby, I'm looking atchu...
ah you beat me to the post, steph!
Sent the email around to a bunch of people here at work and it should be circulating around some other game companies as well.
bobo and josh(beaner here) and tokidokizenzen said they were out.
tarwater and a designer here may be in. A really awesome artist from Mad doc software says he's in too.
Regardless, I'd be down for the aquarium as a back up, if the weather is sucky.
12 pm then, Saturday, Harvard Tstop.
Rook - I met ya in SF, and I think in austin too.
ALSO - modeling drawing at my place, the following friday(the 26th). PM me if you can make it. cost is 10 bucks per person for 3 hours of drawing.
Can I also make a request to hit up Pearl Arts as well? Again... assuming I have my wallet.
I may be down for life drawing on Friday; Rook is staying with me for the week and we might be taking a day trip that day (must... escape... Belmont!) but I am definitely interested. Moreso, I need to be more dilligent about life drawing, so I'm sure I will join you on weekends in the near future. Jax seems like a really good model, from what you've told me
As far I as know, i'm free this weekend. Count me in too. (I missed the first one)
12 noon, Harvard Sq. see ya.
is there like an age limit on this
Jason: looking forward to seeing you!
Daqu: Hells no. Of course, if you're like 7 and can't stand to hear people swear (I admittedly have quite the potty mouth) you may want to reconsider. We did swing by a bar last time, but given that we'll have a minor with us *pokes Rook* that may not happen again this time. Otherwise, all are welcome!
i posted a plug for this up on the realtime section of cgchat.com. There's a lot of bostonians there, and it's a great community as well. Admittedly, it's all game artists and primarily 3d driven, but we may get a few who stop by to hang out for a bit.
That said, we might want to hang out at the Au Bon Pain for the first hour with our sketchbooks out so people can find us
Sounds like a plan! ^_^ For the next meeting (the one presumably after this one) I can try to rustle up some more RISD grads and animators. Spread the lurve!
...should we make a big dorky sign so that people know who we are?
i just turned 17...and i'm quite a potty mouth myself even though i look like i'm 10...
add- how do you guys usually meet?...do you guys have a list of people or do people just come usually?
it would be dope if i could go...drawing with experienced elders is always a plus!

i would like to do this. are you still planing on this saturday the 20th?
i just need some info on where you meet, possibly trains to take from providence, well i will probalbly drive to quincy and take the T.
I'm in like sin baby.
My new sketchbook sucks though...BEWARE!
Hey Foster and RK, daku, jason, et all, It'll be great to see you guys!
Saturday, the 20th, noon!
The harvard stop is right off of the red line. You take the T to the "Harvard Square" stop. There's a staircase leading out (I think it's the massachussetts ave. stair case... whatever it's called it's NOT the church street exit)
Anyway, you come out, look around, and you'll see a big sign for the Au Bon Pain cafe. There's a lot of umbrellas in front of it (like 50), so it's hard to miss. I'll pm you guys my cell phone number in case you get lost though.
Other than that, show up at noonish with a sketchbook and a pencil (and 20 bucks if it's raining for the backup aquarium plan).
See you guys there!!

Roger that...Harvard stop off of the redline...or the periwinkle blue line that very few know about.
Will be nice to see Jon and Steph again, and meet everyone I didn't get to in SF. How are the weather reports for sat?
oh shoot, fixed the above directions. it is the red line. i get it mixed up because i used to take the commuter train into the city, which was a little green line on the maps.
red line! red line!
I'm so sad I can't make it to this. Please have another one soon!
Well I don't think I'll be able to make it this time for sure which really bugs me this time since there sounds like there will be a large number of you. One of these times I'll make it, I promise!
/that's two strikes for me now, one more, and hopefully I won't be considered out
i will not be able to get to this one. some new freelance work came in the door so i will be drawing in the studio.
hope you have fun.
i will be not be able to show up...for i have to take SAT stuff....
and they all fall down...
who is still going!?
Nice, I also found another girl that is interested in going...but shes not on these sites. Can't wait to roll out! lol How long did the last get-together go til?
The first time I missed I had to fly home for a week to attend a funeral. My flight didn't get back until late Friday night (Providence) and it didn't help that before I left my car decided to die on me. A friend had to drop me off and pick me up and since it was so late I stayed over at his place till Saturday. So I wasn't even home.Originally Posted by blankslatejoe
I'll get up there soon. 17 people this time around seems like a huge turn out and I'm hoping somebody took pictures. Can't wait to see them if anybody has them.
How long did it last this time? What did you do?
HEY guys! this FRIDAY is model drawing at my apartment. Due to space limits, I'm capping the limit of people to 10, and a few of those slots are taken by coworkers already. So you've got to RSVP ASAP
Friday, August 26, 7:30 to 10:30/11 PM
Where: Acton, MA
What: Life Drawing for three hours, drawing the beautiful and awesome model Jax (one of the best models I've worked with). We'll do everything from 15 second poses to 20 minute long ones. We may do a longer 40 minute one divided into two breaks.. we can play it by ear. Dry and clean medium only, space is limited so I don't really have room for painters.. sketchbooks are probably best.
Cost: 10 bucks for the model. Pizza will be provided gratis!
Send me an email if you want in to draw(at)30lives.com, posting a reply to this on the message boards won't reserve your spot!
You know I'm down. And the fun 1 hour drive. How many people you have going? I'm still getting everyone's names memorized, gonna take a few gatherings
I'm out this time Joe - have to work late on Friday... no Six Flags for me either. -___-
But! I get laid off for a month starting Sept 9th! WOO HOO! So I guess U:ll be seeing you in September
BTW, if you guys would be so kind to scan and post some of your sketches from the outing (mine weren't too noteworthy but I managed to get some gestures of break dancers the day after!)...
I'll scan mine tonight. For realz.
here you go, steph!
Some stuff from saturday and from last night!
there's a few more posted in my sketchbookthread.
Wow, thanks Joe, I appreciate it. I really like your work too, you've got a quick eye for form, a style I'd like to emulate at some point. Very solid.
I started a thread here, hope to post more.
