nice stuff i like the first one most .. looks sweet somehow

tips : yes -> learn the basics of drawing do tons of studie and become a pro in 3 or more years

the main importance is to keep things 3D - and the translation bedween 3d reality and 2D drawen 3D illusions - i mean the image i u see is translated thru ur eye lense - diffrent lense diffrent IMAGE - the way we feel and percept depth space and other things are defined by our lense - but in order to interprete them on our own and independend we need to know how that image is created and how 3D objects behave in space and how their appearance change when u change ur eye lense - the rest is done by planes and angles - but this is most complex thing iam still learning so.. be patient

pm or msn icq me when u want some more detailed tips n stuff.. i always like to help with this stuffz.. so feel free

keep up !

Your probably better off learning how to draw with traditional methods first ie: pencil and paper, before starting digital methods...

Keep practicing..

I really like the progress so far, I would really like to see some traditional work (pencil and paper works) so I could better critique your work.

Pretty decent stuff, how about some updates. You've probably worked out some of the anatomy issues, done some animal studies and such, probably have some more skill now.

Ok, here's an update, finally after... what a few months. Gosh, sorry folks but i've had nothing to show in those past months....

Please comment on anything and everything. I can take all the critiques i can get. And i want to thank you beforehand on anything you may say to improve me.

Oh, yes. The Combine... who could not love their coolness... i think it was an hour, painting the front boxcover.

Oh, i remember painting this and saying to myself, "did i do that?" it amazed me so much that little things could make the piece look realistic. this painting excites me and makes me sad at the same time, because i don't know how to finish it. *sigh* someday it will be finished... haha... 1½ hours.

This idea came from one of my favorite artist on CAforums, Flaptrap - ½ hour

I'm getting too lazy to pain the whole character. Cuz when i do paint it, it either doesn't come out the way I want it or i get frusterated with trying to get the right color, etc. 30 mins.

Great Stuff, Matt-

I feel I'm in the same boat as you- desperately trying to up my skills! I really like your latest DSG post- made me laugh out loud.

Keep it up! Let us see more! I would love to see some of your traditional stuff- I'd hate to sound like an ol poop, but I feel that especially for sketching, digital stuff is a little too forgiving at times... it's good to make mistakes and have to live with them (even if it's only a doodle).

just as a quick aside, I too have found Christ... He's the best friend I've ever had, even before I knew who He was.

Keep drawing, keep creating! ... I gotta make one of these sketchbook threads too soon... *rubs top of hand*

-Andrew

Waffle_King: Thank you very much, Andrew. Yes, digital medium can be very forgiving, but exciting as well. I'm learning to use color nowdays, which is something I've never done before. It's extremely exciting to make something look photorealistic real.
As for the traditional art, I will try to get up some of the stuff I've been sketching everyday. I use pen non-stop, but I know I must learn to use the pencil too (I just hate all the smearing).
Thanks again for the comment and encouragement! Beblessed in Christ, and be sure to tell me of your sketchbook when you have it up! I want to subscribe.

Now for some sketches from my daily sketchbook : listed as drawn.

rewind: Thanks for the nice comment! I'm not sure why the Rylee picture is so nice. I think it's just because I worked on it longer than any of the other stuff. Again, I thank you!

Great stuff! Some cool ideas and some nice execution. Check out Saleryman's SB, I think you might be able to pick some stuff up from him.

Kitsu: Thank you very much for your kind comment. I do believe I have been to Saleryman's SB. Sweet stuff there. Right now I'm digging into Loomis' books here. They are amazing and really helping me learn the body. If only I had time to learn the stuff. After finals, there will be more time. Thanks again for the visit! And post more on your SB! It looks great so far!

Yo dude... been working overseas, only saw your comment in my sketchbook a day or two ago. Nice diversity in yours so far. While working on anatomy (I know I am, still shaky), a digicam for reference shots helps.

bah, another year and another load of crap from me. i'm working at it though; there's just not enough hours in the day to learn anatomy, perspective, Alias Maya, AND vectoring. gosh, what i wouldn't give for a second body i could control.

hmm, i've also noticed that after doing drawing all those hands has made me believe in myself more. hands are suprisingly easier!

some suckage doodles...

a t-shirt design that'll never see the day of light

thanks for looking. ;]
