Hi Crazy - good to see your stuff here. Your sketching is becoming more and more confident - I really like the retro si-fi stuff - lots of fun

If there were anything I were going to "crit" I guess it might be that you may be underemphasizing the planes and edges, they can often make a good drawing 'pop' that much more. I, of course, am struggling with a lot of basic things, but that's my best shot at your work.

Oh, and as I'm sure you know, the Poe thing is great!

Hey dude I like your work this last one has IMO the best line
work of all your posting as far as line sensitivity goes,
the sence of space betewen the rising hand and the
cube feels really nice.

Min critics:
some how I fell you heads are a little rought sepecialy the
the planes of the cheeks, they looks a bit flat, the eyes
on most of caracter are alingned into a straight line,
remeber that the eyes never sit straingt on the face, they
are spheres placed on a cilinder, (im still getting the hang
of this myself) and a last, take my advise with a
pich of salt cause Im just learnig like you

keep it up, ill be around!

Hey AndrewLey! - Thanks a lot. And thanks for stopping by. Yea in the 6 or 7 months that I've been sketching everyday, I really feel better about my drawing. A long way to go still though.
I just checked out your sketch book. It looks great. I'll leave you a message there.

spork891 - Thanks. And yea, I think your crit is right on. Visualizing the planes is something I definitely need to work on.

maxetormer - Thanks for taking a look at my work. You may still be learning, but man, the self portraits in you sketchbook are really nice. They have a reall sense of dimension that I really need to work on.

Anyway, here's a bunch of little doodles I've been scribbling inbetween saving files and rendering.

A robot waiter, a llama and a sock monkey

A couple daily sketches from cgtalk

And did this one for yesterday's DSG

That last one has such a great sense of value! The head seems at odds with the neck, however. A very subtle effect, I suspect it should be tilted upward slightly. It's beautiful overall.

Fellah - Ha Ha. Thanks. Joking but not right? I agree, it's just now that I'm starting to feel OK about some of the things I'm posting. I really need to spend more time studying anatomy. If I get the anatomy right on a drawing, I feel like it was mostly luck. I've probably said it before in here, but it's made such a difference since I've started drawing everyday. But look who I'm talking to, the sketching machine. Oh and I like the avatar.

spork - Thanks. Yeah, I was happy with the mermaid. I agree about the head. I think it's something with the light on the neck that makes it seem disconnected. And now that I look at it again, the view of the head is so straight-on, it seems a little unnatural.

Great drawings lately. I would really love to see more drawing from life though. I think it would improve your abilities alot if you did that more.

The faces are really starting to come along now. They seem to have more substance, more mass than before. The guy with the hat and mic, the robot and the last piece particluarly look nice.

Thanks Dan - I'd love to do more drawing from life. The only problem, is that to draw from life, you kind of need a life. Ha Ha. And right now my "life" is work work work. But that is definitely on my list. Thanks for stopping by again.

tttia - Thanks, I am feeling better about my faces lately. Now I have to get to work on the rest of the body.

I'm going to try to do this eye in color for today's dsg

Fellah - Yeah you're right. Not a style thing. Just a bad ear.

AndrewLey - Thanks - Really. It means a lot. I'm glad you see progress. I hope I can keep it up.

Great drawings. I especially like your bio-mech mermaid for DSG. Very solid and dynamic at the same time.
I'll visit this sketchbook from time to time.

Thumbs up Awesome work

really like your gesture and linework in your drawings, also really enjoying your progress and depth of color in this last piece. I really love that poe painting of yours, awesome colors. Good work and would like to see more gestures from you, really great stuff.

fellah - HaHa - Considering the kind of things in your sketchbook, I didn't think anything could scare you.

Darktwin and spork - Thanks for motivation

This sketch started as a Daily Sketch over at cgtalk, but as I got into it, I thought I'd like to put a little more into it than just a couple hours. So I thought I'd post some WIP as I go.

The eye looks very clean, much more so than some of your others. Nicely done.

The new monster is nice too, I think I actually like the sketchier gesture version more so far, but I will withold a bit till we see the end It just has more motion feel to the second one.

tttia - Thanks. It's always tough to keep the energy of a quick sketch once I get into it and start to tighten up the drawing. Ah well, After I finish the drawing, I'm going to use it as a digital painting exercise too. We'll see. But it's fun so far.

Nice sketch. I painted dinosaurs long time ago. Maybe I should try this stuff again.

Hey Fellah, I'm glad your still keeping an eye on my sketchbook. Knowing you're checking up on me keeps me pushing myself to do better.

Here's an update on Godzilla. I think this is as far as I'm going to take it for now. I want to get to doing more figure studies.

purb36 - Thanks a lot!
The brush I used on the Godzilla is a normal round Photoshop brush with-
The hardness setting at 100%.
The Shape Dynamics setting is set so that it is control option is set to pen pressure with the minimum diameter at about 60%.
The Other Dynamics Setting is set so both control options are set to pen pressure also.
Smoothing is selected.
The airbrush option is turned off.
Hope that makes sense.
